  • Leaves and branches of the tree arrived looking healthy and ...
Color: Style 5
Leaves and branches of the tree arrived looking healthy and seemed to ship well. Flowers came dead and roots are very exposed. There was nothing in the care instructions regarding the care of the roots and am wondering if I’ll need to transplant. Will post the progression of the tree and update review rating. Update 2/1/18: it’s been about 10 days and the little tree is looking great. Still in original pot and topped off with some volcanic ash I got from a glacier hike in Iceland. Kept in a miniature greenhouse now accompanied by my Chinese Elm. I mist frequently and have only had to water it a couple times since I’ve gotten it. The miniature greenhouse really contains the moisture. Some new buds and blooms already! Pics posted. Update 11/25/18: Tree has been replanted since it took a Humpty Dumpty off our balcony this summer after a strong wind gust, but it’s like it never even happened. Tree constantly has flowers and has bursted with bright green leaves. Given plant food and bonsai fertilizer about once a month. Always trimming back shoots and picking off dead leaves. Growing medium used is well draining. Very happy with this little guy :) ... show more

  • Vendor forgot to add soil to pot before shipping
Color: Style 5
This bonsai arrived in a good box and packaging with plenty of leaves intact. However the pot was nearly empty, it looked like they had transplanted to the pot right before shipping and forgot to add any soil besides what was attached to the root ball. Also there were no wires holding the root ball to the pot and there was no gravel mixed in with the little soil that was in the pot for proper drainage. The pot was too shallow anyway so I ended transplanting to a pot I already had and tying the root ball down to the pot with wire. Another complaint I had was there are several training wires on the branches that have rusted and marred the tree because they have been left on too long. I have bought bonsai through amazon before with good results, however it appears 9GreenBox is not the right vendor to buy from. I would look else where if I had to do it again. I hope the tree survives my transplant. ... show more

  • And here's your pathetic twig
Color: Style 5
I'm not sure if this plant is alive, let alone if it is even the correct plant. I knew not to expect it quite as beautiful and green as the picture, but I expected it to at least be healthy! The few leaves there are, are hanging on by a thread. And it's definitely not 6 inches. There is no way they sent this item out and thought "this customer will be pleased". I'm pretty irked. ... show more

  • Brown frown.. dead looking little tree.
Color: Style 5
Update: This thing is dead. I scratch the bark away the day after I received it just to see if it had something living underneath but it didn’t. They may have honestly watered a dead tree, wrapped in plastic and sent it out to me. I reached out to the seller but never heard back so I thought I’d update. Original review: I went through and read all the reviews and knew it was an option I might not get the greatest tree but for the price thought it was worth. Unfortunately this thing is on it’s last leg, I put it under my grow. lights hoping to save it. It’s all brown and brittle, I was hoping for some green leaves on this thing. I got it delivered to my office so wouldn’t be sitting outside in the cold weather so I don’t know what the problem is. I’m not sure if it died in transit or it got sent out like this. ... show more

  • It is not a tree, no roots, just a twig. DO NOT BUY
Color: Style 5
My third attempt. Bought it 3 times. Each time it just flowered then dried up. I had one in Florida, which stayed alive and blooming for 3 years before I moved and had to give it away. When the first Fukien tea tree bonsai I ordered dried up, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. So for the next one( though I expected the seller to give me a pot in which they would thrive without being repotted) I decided to repot. The planters they come in are tiny just an inch of soil. The root system was non existent. Still I had faith. It died. The third order, I paid a lot of attention. It still died. While throwing it I saw there were no roots. I have spent a lot of money just on twigs!!!! Hence I would strongly discourage you from buying it if you are expecting a pretty bonsais which will flower a few times during the year. These guys are selling twigs, DO NOT BUY ... show more

  • Glad I got it!!
Color: Style 5
I have to say I was worried when I ordered because of the one star ratings. I decided to take a chance and I am so glad I did. It is a lovely plant and even has a few blooms on it. It is pretty crowded in the pot but I will wait till spring to re-pot it. Will probably have to water it every day. There were some left over rusty wires which I had to remove, but in my experience they all do. It is no trouble to remove the wires and that must be done to prevent the tree bark from growing around the wire. I had a couple of places that were close to not being able to remove. With a little "tidying up" on my part it is a beautiful bonsai. I am new to this, so we will have to see if they survive. I plan to keep it inside, to keep a more even temp. I live in GA and right now it is very hot and humid and the winter temps. can go below freezing. I might have to adjust as they grow. I believe the Fukien Tea is supposed to stay inside. No specific instructions were provided~~just general bonsai instructions~~but there are books!! Update, Have had it for 3 weeks now. Doing great, new leaves and blooms. Decided to repot since water ran off top instead of sinking in. was very easy to repot and is still doing great! Love this plant!! ... show more

  • Second time a bust
Color: Style 5
This is/was my second purchase. The first one died within a week. This one arrived and was packaged horrible...plastic wrapping all over the pot. Nothing to protect the actual plant. It was thrown into a box and filled with packing peanuts causing several branches to arrive snapped off. Several rusty wires had cut deep into the plant as well. Within three days the plant leaves turned yellow and upon closer inspection the tree was riddled with pests...larvae, aphids. There’s no option to return the plant. For the price you’d think you get a healthy and viable bonsai but it didn’t happen...twice. Stay far away from this seller. ... show more
