This box spring requires assembly. It comes in a relatively small box so it's easy to move into your house. All of the hardware and tools that are required are included, but the tools are not quite strong enough. The assembly uses locking washers that require a little more torque than the included tools can handle. We got out our mechanics tool kit, though, and were able to find the appropriate tools for the job. Assembly was fairly easy and straightforward. There are several pieces that are labeled with stickers that say "UP". This is especially helpful in ensuring that the pieces are put in properly. Once the box is assembled, the cover slips on like a fitted sheet. This base has a nice height to it and when coupled with the height of our bed frame, and thick mattress, results in a rather high bed. It's so much nicer than a mattress on the floor and so much easier to get into the house than a traditional box spring. This is especially helpful in basement apartments or spaces with tight doorways. ... show more

    • Great alternative to a wood frame

My old wooden box frame had started to creak when I toss and turn at night, so I decided to give the CH CHARME HOUSE 9 Inch Queen Box Spring with Cover a try. I was a bit skeptical about how it would be shipped but I figured what the heck. I am pleasantly surprised. Even though the long box had two pretty good-sized holes (conveniently about arm's length) the frame itself was undamaged. Unboxing it revealed lots of parts :) It took around 35 mins to put together, reminding me of the old erector sets I had as a child. All the connections were impressively engineered and fit perfectly. Once assembled it proved to be quite sturdy. The proof is in the sleeping.. after a week no creaking or squeaking has showed up. If possible I feel like there is MORE support than a standard wooden frame. I say this because the mattress feels just a tad firmer. So, for now this is a real winner. We'll see how it holds up over time. ... show more

Our hand-me-down queen mattress came with two twin box springs rather than this single queen. Fortunately, this box spring works out a lot better and actually stays put where the other two kept sliding out of place. I didn't realize this needed to be assembled when I ordered it, so that was a bit of a letdown. Plus the assembly was rather meticulous. Additionally, it is pretty squeaky where our other box spring was silent but slippery. So we've traded one issue for another, but overall I'm content with my purchase. ... show more

Well designed and strong. The Box spring came packaged nicely. Assembly was fairly straightforward and easy. It is made from very solid steel, and the parts are engineered well, and fit together nicely. I would recommend laying ALL of your parts out first in the positions they will be in. Makes assembly much easier. The Box spring is very solid, and unlike our old Wood one, is not squeaky. It does not give at all, so it actually provides a slightly firmer support which I like. This is a great bed frame! It's solid, and easy to put together, and the packaging isn't overly bulky or heavy. It has some weight, mind you, but not bad. My biggest complaint is the tools it comes with. It has a tiny ratchet driver and an allen bit, which makes the screwheads go quickly, but you should have a small electric screwdriver and a small socket adapter, it will make what would be a 45 minute assembly into a 15 minute assembly.     • Very Nice Metal Box Spring

I got this to replace a very creaky and squeaky standard wood and metal box spring for my queen size bed. It was fairly easy to assemble by myself. It took about 2 hours to assemble. Once assembled it took a few tries to get the cover on it. But once the cover was on it was a nice firm fit. Moving the assembled box spring is much easier than a standard wood and metal one since it only weighs 45 pounds. It fit perfectly in my metal bed frame. It does creak slightly, but that may be the metal bed frame it sits on. Regardless, imy bed creaks alot less than it did previously. ... show more
