This five in one STEM kit teaches much more than installation skills or fine motor skills, it also incorporates the scientific ideas of leverage, electricity and motion. Here are some thoughts about this STEM project kit: 1) Have you built a toy set according to the instructions only to be bored and not have anything else to build from the kit after that? This kit does not have that issue. Once you have completed one scientific model, there are four others to build, so there is no shortage of fun. 2) The pieces that constitute the kit are well built and do not have sharp or unfinished plastic or metal parts. The quality of these parts is not top notch, but it is about average. 3) The concepts of installation are universal to each of the science kits that are purportedly supposed to teach science concepts. Beyond the installation phase, this definitely teaches concepts such as leverage, electricity and motion, among others. So you get far better value than STEM kits that dwell on the basics or do not go beyond installation. These kits are very colorful. They come with all the components and are easy to assemble. The only downside is that they are foam (not wood), so not very sturdy. I can see these getting destroyed pretty easily. Definitely for older kids that take care of their stuff.

I always look for STEM products that I can do with my children that foster problem solving and creativity. This project kit has been a lot of fun to do with my 4 year old daughter and she takes pride in the projects that we complete together. I was impressed that the kit came with AA batteries for each project, you don't usually see batteries included, so that was a welcome surprise. The projects are each unique and have their own challenges. My daughters favorite project was the handheld vacuum cleaner. I liked most of these projects more than I expected to. The motors actually have some power so the fans work well. The batteries were even included! My kids had a great time building and playing with these. They are currently playing puff ball "soccer" with the fans from the car and the monster. The only improvement I would suggest is more comprehensive directions. The directions had pictures, which was very helpful, but some steps were not listed so you had to guess how to make it work. For others, you needed more assembly experience than my early elementary kids had so mom and dad needed to be nearby. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I got this set of interesting STRM projects for my 6 year old daughter. She’s younger than the recommended age range so I was expecting that we’d need to provide much guidance. The projects are quite diverse, but unfortunately the first project we tried, the dryer, didn’t work at all. I tried changing the batteries but it wouldn’t turn on. My daughter was very disappointed since she had chosen this project because it sounded exciting to her. At least the second project we tried, the time tunnel worked fine, although the only tech aspect was a battery switch for fairy lights. The other reason I am giving this 3 stars is because each project pamphlet only gives info on the materials list and assembly steps, but not on the featured STEM concepts. Having an explanation on how 2 lens and fairy lights could create an infinite light tunnel would have been extremely educational for kids. ... show more
