I purchased this set to use with a recently acquired melting furnace. Casting brass, aluminum, and pot metal worked well, and the molds released easily once the ingots had set. One graphite stir stick arrived broken, but the other is intact, and works well. The tongs do not seem terrifically useful. They can be used to move the crucibles with some effort, but do not appear to be made with this purpose in mind. They do not grip well, and are more of a hazard than a help. Despite all the bubble wrap, the porcelain crucible was shattered when arrived. Hopefully I will get a replacement quickly so I can test and determine whether or not my rating will go up.

This is a kit appropriate for jewelry and small melts - it only handles a very small volume. But for those kinds of applications, this set works great. Recommended
