My first impression upon opening this box of 6 candles was this is a nice budget gift set of candles. It is certainly value priced. You’re getting 6 small jars of candles for less than what a fancy large candle might cost. Still, it does look like a budget gift. The gift box is nice enough, but uses a dated font style for the words “Scented Candles” that are printed all over the box. All the candles are safely nestled within a firm foam insert. Each candle comes in a simple glass jar with a plain black metal lid. Every jar is oily on the outside — apparently they didn’t clean the jars at the factory before they were packed into the gift box. After opening a jar, the oils leave smudges on the black lid. I must clean the oily film off every jar before gifting these, coz oily jars are a little gross. Each jar has a plastic label with a simple illustration and the scent name. I opened each jar to smell its scent. While the scents aren’t overwhelming, they left me feeling slightly queasy and repelled; I’m not sure why. I’ve not reacted this way to other scented candles. Other reviewers seem to enjoy the scents, so it may just be me. ... show more

This is a very nice-looking set, and the scents are pretty good overall. There are a couple scents we do not really like from just smelling them, but I will melt / burn them to see if they are better. I have a lemon one on a candle warmer in my office, and it has a nice, light lemon smell. when they arrived, the outside of the jars felt oily, so that was not really good if they were a gift. I am not sure if something melted during transport, or what exactly it is, but it is all over all of them. It actually got through the foam insert and leaked a bit into the box. Other than that, it would be a great gift set for someone that likes to burn or warm candles, mostly with six different scents. ... show more

I am really impressed with this set of six candles. The item shipped quickly and was packaged very well. The container box is thick cardboard and the candles are individually nested inside a Styrofoam type enclosure. Each jar has a metal lid that screws on...really nice feature versus a lid that just pushes down and easily falls off. Each of the six jars has a different scent and they all smell amazing! I want to note that some of the scents don't exactly smell like the description. For example the one labeled "watermelon" doesn't smell fruity at all to me. It's more like an earthy floral scent. And one labeled "vanilla/coconut" smells like something different as well, but it could just be me. But understand, that even though this is the case, they still smell wonderful! Some of the scents are stronger than others so I was worried the "throw" might be weak on some, but that is not the case at all. I decided to light the weakest smelling one in the set and burned it for a about three hours. When I stepped outside briefly and came back into the house, I could definitely smell it, and it was a couple of rooms away. Even after burning it for three hours, the candle remains at about 85-90%, so I will get several uses out of each one. Shortly after lighting, it appeared it was burning more on one side, but after the first hour, the burning was very even. I cannot say any negatives about this set. I find them very impressive. Oh, I want to mention that the glass jars are the perfect thickness. And each candle has a paper liner over the top that must be removed before lighting. This is a great set for personal use. It could also make six individual gifts or one really nice gift for any occasion. Highly recommend!!! ... show more
