I did notice these were not as sturdy when warmed and full of food as they are when cool. Though not nearly as flexible as a paper plate you still want to get a good grip on them before dashing off with a full plate of hot food. As long as you’re prepared for this it’s not a big issue so yes, I fully recommend these plates. They are inexpensive so use 2 if you’re worried about that one Uncle who always manages to spill. Yes they do show wear after using a sharp knife on them a few times and they can show some food stains but so does plastic. Unlike plastic they handle the microwave and dishwasher well and are non toxic and naturally anti-microbial (or so I’ve read anyway). For my purposes as a caregiver, they are absolutely perfect! I will buy them again and I do recommend them. They are very durable for the price, safe for us and for the environment, do not flavor my food, and better looking than plastic. I never had plates of this material before but after a month of daily usage I am very impressed. I have not used these in the dishwasher as my apartment doesn't have one but using in the microwave hasn't been an issue and so far they haven't suffered any scratches, chips, or other noticable wear-related damage. I do like these colorful plates. They was up easily and are light weight. Both good for arthritic hands. The only thing I have noticed so far, they do not do well with sharp knives. A steak knife will scratch the surface of the plate. Still very glad to have them replace heavier china plates.

We have lots of company during the summer and these are working great for our picnic/casual meals. The raised edges help keep food on the plate and not sliding off (much to the dismay of my dogs). They clean up quick and easy. Very happy.

When washing dishes, I tell the kids ‘it’s not clean unless it’s squeaking clean.’ I can’t get them ‘squeaking’ clean. And, they stain easy when using pasta sauce.
