I'd been working with my PC Srvc support team when I added this, and would have been lost without them walking me through all of the cables & trouble shooting what wasn't set up yet. The first thing you should know about this docking station is there are two versions that look identical. The one in the listing is the G5 docking station. The one I used prior was the G5 essential stocking station. This one compared to the other seems to be giving me greater stability. Docking station has no problem handling all three monitors and multiple peripherals and charging all at the same time. Prior there were issues with these HP docking stations causing monitor flickering which you can read about on the internet. I believe a firmware update has resolved this issue as immediately when I plugged the dock in, the laptop prompted me to update the firmware on the docking station. I did update the firmware and the monitor flickering appears to have gone away for now. The stocking station has a ton of features. 5 USB ports(4 A type &1 C), 2 display ports, 1 HDMI and gigabit Ethernet. The docking station comes with an extremely powerful, albeit required, power supply. The power supply is rated at 120 Watts, utilizing the specialized HP power connector. I'm using this dock on a Dell XPS. The Dell docking solutions suck. I have more problems with them than you'd expect using a Dell computer. So in comes this dock. Right out of the box, it works great. You've got all sorts of ports to connect your compter. Everythign is plug and play. I really enjoy how the ports are angled on the back do you don't get interference when plugging/unplugging cables close together. I also really enjoy the longer USB-C cable that connects to your computer. The Dell version is so short if forces your desk layout to connect. This 3' cable is so nice to use. The only downside to this is the power delivery. It will power 100w. My laptop has a higher power draw, so it charges really slowly. I just use my original charger and plug it in. I purchased this as this is what they use at my workplace. The pros are that both my work and personal laptops (HP's) seamlessly added the device without need for driver downloads. I love that I plugged in wireless keyboard dongle, and it worked without any issues. I was having to unplug it from laptop to laptop. My speaker system also plugged in and is working nicely compared to my old dock. Cons. I had no included instructions in my box but was able to figure it out. I have two HDMI screens that I use and there is only one HDMI plug on the unit. This was fixed by a less than $10 purchase of an adapter. Overall, a significant step up from what I had. ... show more

This is a unique docking station, in that it is also a power supply. Set up is easy, you simple plug it into the wall and your laptop.
