I’m always enjoying the side yards and back yard of my home but had an area that is extremely hot with no shad. The brackets were good quality easy to assemble and looked very nice. From beginning to end it took less than 45 minutes to assemble. The part that really impressed me was the screws and thought that went into the quality of them and options. As a woman with minimal help because not many people like DIYing, I appreciate the thought and care that went into this product so someone like me can get it done. Still more work to be done with a concrete slab and more solar power lights. Those too are amazing just wish they were a bit longer and have a 2nd set on the way. Won't fit 4x4s from the local lumber yard, only fits the cheap Home Depot/Lowe's stuff. I was on a tight schedule so I had to spend hours shaving the ends of my beautiful redwood 4x4 to make it work.

Heads up I received this through the Amazon Vine program. These arrive packed tightly in a single box, and in my case no damage. Be aware that the box is fairly heavy with four units in it. The first thing to note is that the manufacturer is already on the back foot about the quality of their welding. The instructions included mention that the weld will be "convex and unsightly". I have included some pictures of what they mean. The inner dimensions looked good to me, i measured them at 3 9/16th inch all around which gives you a 16th of extra room to fit a standard 4 x 4 post (which you'll recall is really 3 1/2 x 3 1/2). The steel is 1/16th thick by my measure. The holes in the brackets are not offset on each side, so are possibly intended for a bolt to pass through. But the holes are too small (1/4 inch diameter) to pass a bolt through the wood in my opinion, so i consider them suitable for lag screws. Since they are not offset, you will need to limit the length or not use all of the holes on each side. If you're building a pergola for shade, there is a small triangle retained on the top edge to clip a shade to it. Finally, the black coating looks good and is uniform. Time and outdoor exposure will tell what gives way first, but i expect to get many years of service from these. ... show more

So I used these to build a pergola and before I built it, I had these sitting outside where it was being installed. It rained a lot and it kept the color and did not fade or rust. It comes with screws enclosed but you may need a rubber mallet to "help" get it onto your 4x4. I did have pieces That I had to sand down to make fit but that wasn't an issue with the brackets. The brackets are actually a pretty consistent in their size, I would order again. ... show more
