I got this as part of a bathroom remodel and did not install myself. The only potential downside, which is described in the listing - is that the fog-free area is not that large. The mirror is hung vertically, and because I am 5'2", the fog free square is too high on the wall, so all I can see if the top of my head. When we redid the bathroom, we wanted to get mirrors that had features like this one does. I had never used nor seen mirrors like this in the past, so I was very excited when we ordered this one, and I hoped that it would be everything we wanted. This was not something that we wanted to install ourselves so our contractor did it. Once it was in place, he walked us through the features and afterward, we basically just played with it to get to know it better. And as my title says, all I can basically say is wow! I think my favorite feature is the fact that it’s front and back lit. It just seems to make so much more brightness and lights up the bathroom so much better. It’s something I can’t even put into words. It’s just a huge difference. And of course, the anti-fog feature is out of this world! You don’t know what you’re missing until you have a mirror like this. Yes it’s dimmable and yes, you can change the temperatures of the lights. But it also has a memory function so it will remember your preferences. Things like that just blow my mind. I’ve come to love this mirror and am so happy that we found it. The media could not be loaded. First of all, I love how this mirror looks in my bathroom. It's sleek and modern and when the lights are turned on it really looks stunning--especially with the backlight feature. The three different color temperatures is a nice feature also, although the 3000k color is quite yellow. For some folks, I'm sure that's fine. It's just a little too warm for my taste in this application. The dimming feature works very well too. It is, in fact, "step-less" as it smoothly dims from bright to dim and you can stop anywhere in between. The anti fog feature works, but only to some extent. In order for it to work fully, you have to turn it on several minutes before you turn on the water for your shower and there also has to be some circulating air in the bathroom--at least, that's been my experience. My bathroom is a small stand-up shower and commode only bathroom off the master bedroom, so that might be why the anti fog struggles to work in such a small area. The buttons to operate the different features of the mirror are touch buttons and they're on the mirror itself. I find the location of the buttons a little odd. I'd prefer them to be more in the corner of the mirror--which could work even if the mirror were mounted horizontally. Perhaps they have to be located where they are because of where the control module on the back of the mirror is located. I'm not sure. The construction of the mirror seems to be very solid and sturdy, but not too heavy. The install is a different topic all together. They've made the actual hanging of the mirror super simple. It comes with two brackets that you attach to the wall with the provided hardware and the mirror just rests on those brackets and you're done. Getting power to the mirror is a different story. I lucked out because I'm somewhat handy and I've run power to different locations in my house before and I knew that there was a space already cut out behind my previous mirror to add an electrical outlet. All I had to do was tap into the power from the light fixture above the mirror. I feel like your average homeowner or someone who is not comfortable doing this kind of work would be left wondering how to get power to this mirror. The mirror is wired with a standard three prong plug, so theoretically you could plug it in to any close by wall outlet, but that would look horrendous and the mirror would definitely not sit flush against the wall. I suppose someone could hire an electrician or handyman to come out, but that seems like an awful lot for a relatively small bathroom mirror. Like I said, I lucked out because I've messed around with these kind of things before. Definitely something to consider before purchasing. Otherwise, this mirror is pretty sweet. ... show more
