I will start this by saying I don’t fly too often, so I am not the most credible person to be talking about types of carry on, but with this I had to share my experience. Now, I just took a trip with several connecting flights, being that I don’t have much flying experience I was stressed about what to use as a carry on to avoid paying to check a bag. My trip was for 6 days so I searched and searched and decided on a backpack style bag. After comparing more than a fair share of “carry on” style bags I decided to listen to the reviews and choose this 40L travel backpack. Being a bigger guy I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to fit all my clothes in the bag, that turned out to be a silly thing to worry about. Once I mastered the “ranger roll” with all of my clothing everything I wanted to pack fit so perfectly in the bag. The bag is well constructed and held everything in snug. The straps to use as a backpack are comfortable and easy to tuck away when you’re getting onto the plane to save space. I bought this pack specifically to take advantage of these new budget airline baggage charges. I got a $15.00 flight from Oakland to Phoenix. I didn't want to pay the $35.00 each way for a "Carry on" Frontier is very specific on what the Free Personnel item bag was. As long as you don't expand it. and over pack it. This bag fit in the Frontier bag check tool. I had to cram it in but it passed. I took it over to the Spirit airline bag check tool and it slid in easier than frontiers. The straps tuck in nicely when boarding, But then are easy to pull out for backpacking time. ... show more

I love this bag. Prior to it I used to travel with a book bag and a carry on on rollers. This bag has replaced them both. It has many compartments and expands really nicely. We have gone on 3 trips with it and has performed very well. I have not needed to check the bag in. I recently purchased this backpack to use for weekend trips and have since used it as a personal item aboard Spirit and United Airlines with 5 days worth with of clothes (Your mileage may vary. I carried sweats and warm clothing for a trip to Chicago). I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase. The backpack has a decent layout within compartments for maximizing space. To me, the backpack is also very comfortable to carry when it is full and can be expanded by 2 additional inches when needed. Note, when I flew to Chicago the backpack was not expanded. The only setback I have encountered is that the inside mesh pouch of the main compartment ripped slightly around the zipper after 2 trips. Though I may had over estimated the amount that it could hold and it appears that I will still be able to use it as it came. (The pouch is super thin in width) I would purchase a second one again to have as a spare. ... show more

I am obsessed with this carry on of mine 😍😍 It is huge and its the right size for a carry on. I went to Seattle for a week and took everything I needed in it. Went to Aruba and done the same. I may be a woman and pack light but it definitely fits 7 pairs of clothes and garnets and 3 pairs of shoes and other essentials. It is super durable and light weight. Purchased this item for my son going to BMT. It's great. Truly, this backpack has sturdy, durable zippers, it is true to the size, and very well made. What is truly amazing about it, it is lightweight and roomy. I was so surprised to see how much fits in. I purchased the travel bags (eliminating air) and was able to pack in 8 pairs of socks, underwear, 4pairs of compression shorts, a pair of pants, 3 pairs of shorts, 4 T shirts, 1 pair of sneakers, flip flops, belt, Bible, a huge bag of toiletries, a 6 pocket folder filled with notebook, documents, envelopes, writing supplies, lint roller, a pack of disposable razors, a glass case, a sponge and some other small items and still I had space for other things. I also want to add that the measurements are true to the size.. perfect carry on.. last thing you want for your service man/woman is a lost checked luggage. Also, the new recruits uppn arrival have to run, they cannot roll their luggage. The straps make it simple. They are sturdy, pull them out and voila, a back pack. My expectations were blown out of the water by this backpack. The material is really durable, the size is perfect to maximize carry-on size without being oversized. I love that it has the expansion capability, with the compression straps both on the outside and the inside. There are multiple zippered pockets inside and outside, for extra storage. The zippers are incredible, they are supper chunky (larger than I have even seen on rolling luggage) and they glide so smooth, even around the corners. The tuck away backpack straps are perfect for putting in the overhead or if you have to check the bag. I'm also not too worried about it being black because you can easily put colorful straps/luggage tags or other identifiers on it to make it visible. There is a handle on the top and the side for easy grip, and they are excellent quality. I was fortunate enough to buy it when it was under $50, and it was a steal in my opinion! OMG I was so surprised that I was able to fit everything that I need for my 7 day cruise. I use packing crates and was able to pack 5 sundresses, 6 shorts with tops, leggings, underwear, socks, 7 swimsuits, a sweater, toiletries and 1 pair of shoes.
