Anyone who bakes knows about the cake “dome” that most often requires it be sliced off to get a nice even layer. With these baking strips you dip in cold water, squeeze excess and wrap around your bake pan. I used 6 inch silicone pans for this cake shown but the strips are adjustable for 8,9 and ten inch pans.     • These little guys solved a problem I never knew I had!

Like everyone else, I baked cakes with domed tops. I never knew this was a bad thing. If you were baking a wedding cake, yeah, it would matter. Otherwise... I was amazed to discover people actually sliced off their domes. Wouldn't that just cause a crumb problem? The discovery of crumb coating led me to YouTube where a demonstration of wrapping cake pans with wet paper towels enclosed in foil revealed that doming can be deterred by science...cooling the sides allows slower, more even baking throughout the pan, thus doming does not occur. The cake I baked following the YouTube instruction turned out great, but my arthritic hands had a terrible time keeping those foil things from falling off when I was putting the pans on the racks and taking them out. (My foil strips came out more loose and far rattier-looking than the ones in the video!) I decided commercial strips were worthwhile if those foil monstrosities performed well, so I ordered a set. Since receiving them, I've baked two cakes, six layers, and all were perfect. I highly recommend this product. They were easy to put on even with my stiff fingers. I also recommend that if you happen to have a pizza peel, you use it for pan delivery and retrieval from the oven. Even these strips can slip a bit if your pan sides are not completely vertical. The peel lessens the chance of slippage and it's just easier if your dexterity is suspect. Fewer burns too. My peel is getting more use than it's had in the 10 years since I bought it. If your husband needs an explanation of just WHY you needed yet another baking gadget, just dazzle him with the scientific reasons to calm him and then slice the cake and show him how well it fits together now that it's flat. As it should be. So there you go. Two recommendations. Your pizza peel will justify its reason for taking up so much pantry space. And you will be pleased with your flat topped cakes and the strips that tweaked the science of doming. Even if you never knew before that your cake layers should be flat! KL ... show more

Cake baker for over 30 years. Decided to try these. The stripes worked great until they wore out after one year, but I use these every week multiple times, so my usage is far greater than Perhaps most others. I will purchase again because they do work well when used properly.

I just LOVE these baking strips !! They really do help my cakes bake more evenly!! No more uneven cakes that need to be trimmed. Just soak them in water, squeeze out the excess water, then slide them over the sides of your cake pan ( they fit up to a 10 inch round cake pan ) and tighten. After soaking in water you wrap these around the cake pan, the sides don’t cook so fast allowing the sides to rise as tall as the middle. Perfectly flat cake every time. Even with high elevation baking!!!

    • These Cake Strips Really Work!

I bake a lot of occasion cakes for the family but I usually have to cut the tops off the baked cakes to make the layers level and the edges aren’t always smooth. Saw these Cake Strips online and decided to try them. Wow was I pleasantly surprised. People now think my cakes r from a bakery. The tops r flat (no rise in center) and the edges are perfect. What an invention. Love using these after soaking in ice water for about 5-10 minutes b4 adding batter to cake pans. Love these Cake Strips. Easy to tighten strips around cake pans snd secure. I'm tired of baking 13x9 cakes and they come out with a towering dome in the middle while the four corners are squat and overcooked. But where do you find a baking strip that can surround a 9x13 pan? These strips can connect together to surround any size pan. I used two and they worked great. My only complaint is that the cinching mechanism is simply a loop of fabric. You can't pull the strips tight against the pan. Despite that, they still worked, insulating the corners of the pans well. I finally had a flat, evenly cooked cake! I may use sewing pins the next time I use these. ... show more
