Components are all nice and solid, tools to change jaws and what not are included, and everything comes in a sturdy plastic case with foam cutouts to hold all the parts, even the tools. I couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend this set for home turners.

I got into woodworking, specifically wood turning, a couple years ago, and I had no prior experience with lathes of any kind or their accessories. I did a bunch of research on these chucks once I started trying to make bowls and objects that aren't in a spindle shape. This chuck came with different diameter teeth and the tools to swap it out, and was within my price range. I don't regret buying it, it has served me well, but it's cheap price obviously comes at the expense of using soft metals, possibly an inferior inner mechanical design, and it's become pretty difficult to work with. My comment about softer metals is based on the screws that connect each tooth to the faceplate. The big problem now is that the screws provided to connect each tooth to the faceplate have become so tight that they are impossible to back out. Every single one of them has stripped the head instead of backing out. So, I can now only use one set of teeth. I've tried everything I know to loosen the suckers and nothing has worked. Another frustrating problem is that the gears seem to have debris in them, because every time I open/close the jaws, I can only turn the key a partial turn before it stops and I have to go back and forth clockwise to counterclockwise repeatedly in order to make any adjustments. I have disassembled and reassembled the entire chuck multiple times and cleaned it out and oiled it. Finally, the teeth will sometimes for no apparent reason, fall out when I'm opening or closing the jaws. So, some very frustrating developments, but still worth it for a first time user to dip their toes in. ... show more
