Description

Whole house water filter systems are great solutions to help protect your pipes and appliances as well as offer you great tasting drinking water from anywhere in the home. The 3M Aqua-Pure AP900 Series Whole House Sanitary Quick Change Water Filter Systems are the industry's first Sanitary Quick Change (SQC) whole house system. The AP902 contains filter media that helps reduce sediment. These systems are referred to as point-of-entry (POE) systems and are installed downstream from the water meter or well pump. Maintenance of a whole-house water filter system is as simple as a simple quarter turn of the 3M Aqua-Pure AP910R Replacement Water Filter Cartridge or placing a service call with your local plumbing professional. 1" stainless steel inlet and outlet connections provide easy installation for a plumbing professional and peak flow rates up to 20 gpm to meet the needs of residential applications. The innovative Sanitary Quick Change (SQC) design, an industry first for this application, allows for fast and easy cartridge change-outs without having to contact the filter media or the need for a filter wrench. The AP902 is manufactured with a head assembly that includes an integral mounting bracket. The 304 stainless steel head can be installed on existing copper pipes in the home. It consists of a corrosion resistant material that provides long service life. The stainless steel head comes with a 25 year limited warranty. Tested and verified by manufacturer's laboratory. Replace every 12 months, at 100,000 gallons of use, or sooner if a noticeable reduction in flow occurs.

  • An expensive filter solution, but very effective and ultimately worth the investment.
Style: Replacement Cartridge
This single-component water filter (with multiple stages internally) easily handles all the water we use in a four bedroom home for 12 months, and is really simple to install and to replace the one cartridge. There are 3 different versions of it, depending on the quality of water in your area, and although it's quite pricey upfront it really only costs about a buck a day for tap-drinkable water. I'm using the 910R mounted outside near tanks and a pump in Bangkok (Thailand), where the tap water is virtually undrinkable, and this filter cleans it perfectly and gives us safe water throughout the house. An excellent solution from 3M. ... show more

  • Impossible to plumb but it works great once its in.
Style: Water Filtration System
Way better than a water softener once you get it in. Plumbing it in is not fun. No matter what I use for a thread sealer or how much I put on, it will turn 3-4 turns max before it feels like you will break it if you go further. Once in that far and you get everything plumbed in to test it, do you realize that it has a slow leak. So you spend an hour removing plumbing to try it again.. and it leaks again. If someone was able to get this to seal on the first try let me know what you used for a thread sealer. ... show more

  • Clear, Clean water at last!
Style: Water Filtration System
Clear, Clean water at last! We live in a beach area and the houses, like mine, are pretty old. I've seen dates for my house between 1932 & 1938. So, the plumbing is probably very old and has some residue, like iron, in it. I had Culligan come to my house and test the water as I have a Culligan filter that only removes chlorine. Fortunately, my water tested OK. I had thought that it was a whole house filter like this one. It wasn't. Culligan wanted about $1750 to install one of their whole house filer systems and frankly, we just can't afford that. And so, I started some online research and discovered AquaPure whole house filters. This does a great job and now I don't have to let the water run, or constantly clean the toilets to get rid of the rust-colored stain. I bout the AP902 because it will accept the AP917 HD-S filter which will also filter out scale. It doesn't come with that filter but it does come with the filer just under it. I think it's the AP 17-HD. I didn't realize that the AP904 comes with the AP 917 HD-S filter or I would have bought that filter system. This system is rated for up to 100,000 gallons of water which, for 2 people should last a lot longer than a year, but I will change the filter yearly, as recommended. In my research, there were people who complained about OTHER BRANDS of filters reducing water pressure but thankfully, we haven't noticed any drop in the W.P. I would definitely recommend this filter to anyone who needs a reasonably priced whole house system. I think other systems tend to be over priced and the user ratings were not nearly as high as for the AquaPure line. ... show more

  • Worth the money!
Style: Water Filtration System
I'm writing this an hour after installing the filter. We have well water that is fairly hard. Immediately after installing the filter, the smell we used to get is nearly gone. Even the hot water that used to smell quite bad sometimes is much, much better. As for rust, time will tell how well it works for that. I'll try to remember to update this review in a few months. I removed our old softener and replaced with this in hopes that I won't need a softener at all. As for assembly and installation, the necessary hardware cost me about $90 so budget that into your expenses. I used plastic valves and flexible water line in lieu of copper. Easier to work with and less expensive. UPDATE: After having the filter in place for a few weeks now, our water is still much better than before. It does not appear that it will work for rust however. After thoroughly cleaning the shower wall, rust streaks started to appear again after about a week. I'm still happy with the filter as it has improved our water but in our case, it unfortunately doesn't seem to be doing anything for rust. ... show more

  • Extraordinary Price Increase
Style: Replacement Cartridge
After having a plumber, install the fittings for the initial installation two years ago, I bought a new new cartridge $123. Today the same cartridge on Amazon is nearly $200 since I have so much sunk cost into the installation. I am not sure what my alternatives are. It is hard to determine where this extraordinarily high cost increase can be described to put it is truly astounding. On the other hand, the filter does, but it says it should do, but I would not do it again as other than seeing for thinking that there is a drop in water pressure There is really no way to determine if the filter is getting clogged. There are better alternatives out there and I would do your homework, outside of Amazon, to make your decision for a whole house filter. Especially if you want the final filter to go down to one micron. If you are using like I am in New York City you only have to filter for sediment in not or other contaminants ... show more
