  • Successful Vatrer 48v 105Ah Lithium Upgrade in 2001 Club Car Regen2
Style: Golf Cart 48V (51.2V) 105Ah
Finally completed the Vatrer 48v 105Ah lithium battery upgrade in my 2001 Club Car DS Regen2, and it is a great addition. It does require bypassing the Onboard Computer (OBC), which is relatively easy to accomplish in 2 steps: 1-run the negative 10ga wire from the back of the charger receptacle directly to the battery negative. 2- Disconnect the 6-wire connector (behind the seat and under cart) going from the OBC to the big controller box,, and run a jumper between the the blue and the white wire terminals on the controller side of the connector. The easiest way to do this is just cut the 6 wires between the connector and the OBC, leaving about 4-6" of wire. Then connect (i used an insulated crimp butt connector) the stripped bare copper ends of the blue and the white wire together. Just fold back the extra 4 wires so they can't short together and wrap with electrical tape. Both sides of the 6-wire connector should remain connected. That's all it takes to bypass the OBC. The Regen still works, and the yellow battery light will no longer illuminate. If you don't also include the 6-wire connector blue&white jumper as part of the bypass, the yellow battery light will continue to light up frequently, and there is a slight hesitation before the accelerator activates the electric motor. But it still will drive ok, and charge ok with the new charger supplied by Vatrer. It's just that the yellow battery light will keep bothering you. This is true if your OBC is still good. The narrow version of the Vatrer 48v 105Ah lithium battery is 1-2" too tall to easily fit in the Club Car DS due to the two big aluminum I-beams. The wider version will just fit, although i had to add a 1/4" thick strip of molding to raise the rear of the bench seat just enough for clearance. I placed the battery at a slight diagonal front-to-back and up-to-down, and it only sets on top of the passenger side I-beam. This required adding some short 2x4's across the original battery frames to reinforce the floor and keep debris out of the battery area. This also enabled adding some short wood blocks to add support for the Vatrer battery end that wasn't resting on the other I-beam. Although this might seem a little bit odd battery placement, it gave the best top clearance from the seat bottom. It also prevented interference with the accelerator mechanism & its triangle box, plus left maximum room for the charger, a 48v-to-12v reducer, and a fuse block for 12v LED headlights and accessories (radio&power outlet). I will try to include a few pix to provide clarity. They were taken before i added the supplied charger. The new Vatrer battery works great! I mounted the supplied Monitor Screen on the dash by using a 10" long x 1" wood block so the mounting bracket fit easily. Gives handy information on the battery condition in real time, including motor current load. Also gives the temperature! Stays lit while charging. Has automatic timed shut-off, so ok if still lit up after key turned off. Must press button to turn monitor on. Will give battery info even if no key on. Battery has its own complete on-off button! No need to disconnect wires to work on accessories! One hint: The 6-wire connector is called a Deutsch 6-pin connector. I ordered one of these 6-pin Deutsch connectors (included both sides) on Amazon for about $15. Then used one half to make the blue-white wire jumper. This way i only needed to disconnect the original connector, and plug in the jumper one i had made up. So my original wiring remained uncut, as my OBC was still good; if need it or want to sell it later. All in all, certainly worth doing the Vatrer lithium upgrade! Has the 200 amp BMS, which is necessary if upgrading to 48v lithium. While four 12v lithium batteries in series can give 48v, there will be several problems with battery balancing and BMS battery shutdowns due to high current draws on hard accelerations, especially when going uphill. Many thanks for great products and even better Customer Service! Hope you find this information helpful! ... show more

  • I ain’t mad at it!!!
Style: Golf Cart 48V (51.2V) 105Ah
Installed in a 48V AC Yamaha Drive. Took about 2.5 hrs with help from a friend. You will want to get some hardware for bolting the battery down. We used M8 x 1.26 x 40 pan head machine bolts. We should’ve probably used 50mm, but we were able to catch a thread and made the 40’s work. The day prior to install I charged the battery from approx 50% to 100%. We also added the Norco 115v plug in place of the factory Yamaha charger port (flipped the boot around to dress it up and put the plug in backward to offset the factory bolt holes as the Norco plug is a bit smaller diameter. Looks good though! The weight savings is definitely noticeable in the improved time to top end speed. Regarding the battery, it seems to perform well on the short run we made with it. Cart still tops out at 27mph (same as it did prior with the Yamaha speed code added), but it gets there a lot quicker. It will also pull the front wheel if you hit the throttle hard while turning. I was debating a 600amp controller, but it’d only get me hurt or in trouble. Battery construction is solid. I was able to mount the charger on board also. I do intend to clean up the wiring from the shop I bought it from in the near future, but was excited to get it out today. The Bluetooth app works and pairs to the battery quickly. Everything about the battery and accessories seems very well built. The screen I mounted in the ball holder as my cart is for cruising my neighborhood and doesn’t see the course. The charger was a little loud outside of the golf cart compared to my Yamaha charger, but I imagine being under the seat should quiet it down some. Overall my initial impression is very positive. If I have any sort of problems or any concerns arise I will report back promptly. In my eyes the cost is well worth it when figuring the costs of replacement vs upgrade. ... show more

  • So far......As advertised..
Style: Golf Cart 48V (51.2V) 105Ah
The Vatrer Golf Cart Battery was a good choice for my golf cart. The buying process and the delivery went without a glitch. It was easy to install (for me) on my EZ-GO RXV 2014. Since it did not come with an installation kit I modified the pieces that supported the old batteries (plastic support, j-hooks) and i am very happy with the result. The battery charges quickly and holds its charge well, making it ideal for frequent use. Overall, the Vatrer Golf Cart Battery is a solid option for those seeking a high-quality and long-lasting power source for their golf cart. I use around 20% of the charge per round of golf ..around 12 miles including the round trip home...I don't have to worry about how much charge I have eft...I wish the LCD screen had a better design more suitable for the dash of a golf cart. .overall 5 stars ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️ ... show more

  • Amazing change from Lead Acid
Style: Golf Cart 48V (51.2V) 105Ah
These batteries are amazing! It came packaged very well and everything was extremely easy to set up right out of the box. I love that there is no maintenance like the old Trojan's we had, an no horrible smell. The cart is so much lighter and MUCH faster now. The battery was extremely easy to hook up and the included is great to see battery charge quickly - plus you get a ton of other useful stats such as Cycles and overall battery life. Having an onboard charger makes charging on the go very easy, and it charges EXTREMELY fast. We are members at our neighborhood CC and drive the cart around the large neighborhood so we put quite a few miles on it. I am so glad we decided to upgrade once our deep cycles finally died. If you are on the fence about these, just jump over! You won't regret it. Only CON is that they dropped the battery by $100 literally the day after we bought ours. ... show more
