I'm not using the book itself to do any of the art prompts. I have another mixed media sketchbook that I'm going to use. The book for me is reference only. The paper is on the thin side, and I'm not sure it would hold up to the sort of media I want to use (primarily watercolors, watercolor pencils, markers, colored pencils, acrylic paints). I just get in a rut - I know I want to do some art, but I get locked up - artist's block.     • Good, varied prompts
This is a great little book for people with a creative block. It calls for using various mediums, the topics are quite varied, and the difficulty levels offer a good variety too. You can spend as much or little time on each page as you want, and it's good for getting you out of your comfort zone. My biggest pet peeve is that the pages are thin. Yes, that keeps it more affordable, but that also means that ink, markers, and other wet mediums can leak through onto the next page. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is annoying to have an otherwise good doodle marred by what you did on the previous page. I would still recommend this. I don't plan on making a masterpiece so it's not a huge deal for me, just a minor annoyance. But it's worth keeping in mind if you're picky about that sort of thing. ... show more

    • Worth it - lots to do! Made it sentimental
So I wanted to give my mom a special gift. She's an artist and is always looking for stuff to do. So I went through and wrote... 365... memories and things that reminded me of her, for each one of the prompts. It was HARD even though I have thousands of things to say about why I love her. The reason I bring it up, is I was impressed with the variety of prompts and mediums. I was losing steam about halfway through, and the prompts continued to keep things interesting. I started using the prompts to help... for example, with the fish, I wrote down how we used to spend hours cleaning our fish tank. So despite me having tons of content that just needed to be helped a bit, I'm impressed with what's included. Really good price for the level of quality. My hand is cramped, but my heart is full.     • Great for getting back into your groove
I bought this to get back into my art. With an art minor under my belt and years of not using it, I started feeling like an art-wraith. I craved it so bad but didn't know how to get back into one of my favorite hobbies. The daily prompts are perfect and if you follow the guidance at the front of the book, using this can be more organic and in-tune with how you're feeling that day. I think this would also be good for any aspiring artists or anyone interested in de-stressing on a daily basis. There's no right or wrong - you can draw the most hideous drawing ever, and it would still be worthwhile I think. I bought the 365 Days of Art in Nature, too but This book alone is keeping me busy. Today marks 2 weeks since i started using it. I'm looking forward to day 365 when my art skills will be primed to do bigger and better projects. ... show more

I got this for my friend for Christmas, and she really likes it! I definitely prefer that this has actually prompts and guides for each page compared to a little "topic" and square to draw something compared to other drawing books too.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I'm homeschooling my 7th grade daughter and she really wanted to keep an art class. I wanted to find ways to incorporate it without buying tons of supplies or making big messes or having little pieces around that her younger siblings could get into. I tried an art journaling book and it was a disaster. This book gives her simple inspirations that you really don't need much for - a felt pen and a pack of colored pencils will cover just about any activity in the book. The daily projects and fun and not too time consuming. I feel they're activities that anyone grade school to adult could really enjoy to de-stress or just think creatively, and they're all bound nicely together so you don't have to worry about keeping things together or losing completed projects. ... show more
