  • Very sturdy, handle won't rot!
Model: 36 inch
One of our kids left our garden rake outside by the chicken coop and we found it with the wooden handle rotted. It was time for a replacement and this one has many nice features. The metal handle screws together and provides a solid, no-splinter grip. I found that wearing gloves are really helpful since the metal is a little slippery to hold on to. There are both long and short tines to fine tune your work. The handle has a hole at the end so you can slip it onto a hook for storage, if you like. It should give us many years of use. ... show more

  • Lots of Little Pieces...
Model: 60 inch
This rake seems sturdy enough, and I like the design of the head a lot! That said, the handle (as pictured) does come in multiple short lengths that are screwed together to form the full handle. This means that if you're trying to apply some pressure to the left side of the rake, it can pretty easily start to unscrew from one of those points. That's not much different from rakes with full handles and heads that screw on, but it's worth noting. I should have realized that each of the black tubes on the handle is a connection point rather than assuming it was one or two longer pieces! The whole thing is powder-coated with a grippy texture, but the walls of the handle seem a bit thin, so I'd probably recommend ordering a size or two bigger than you think you need just so you have some extra handle to replace parts that become damaged. Still, if my only complaint is the handle being multiple pieces that are slightly thinner than expected, that's not much of a problem, and it's a really decent rake! ... show more

  • BEWARE: The 36" is for the Handle Length, not Rake Width
Model: 36 inch
By my title you can probably guess what I thought when I ordered the rake, I thought it was going to be 36" wide which would have been a perfect fit for our 30" garden beds. I now have a rake with a 36" handle that I can't use. Fortunately, I have small kids so now they have their own rake. It's a shame too because the rake seems quite decent. The handle does come in pieces that screw together, and this may be a problem. My first handle screwed on with many turns, and the second extension screwed on with much fewer turns, so that made me wonder if it was on all the way. There's really no way to tell if it's screwed in all the way other than when it stops turning, so I'm not sure, but I do know it was a substantial amount less than the initial handle segment so I'm skeptical. This thing should last quite a long time since I doubt my kids will put it to extreme use, even on our farm, but we'll see.... ... show more

  • Good tines, not so good handle
Model: 60 inch
So, the head of the rake is great - good tines, made of sturdy steel. The handle is another story. It can be decreased in length by taking sections out, but I’m not sure how I feel about the way they thread together. I may end up just putting an old-fashioned wood handle on it. For the moment, it seems to work, but the connections just don't make me feel confident. ... show more

  • Sturdy and Heavy Duty
Model: 60 inch
The media could not be loaded. This is a really, really, nice rake. I have some old rake heads from over a century ago that require wooden handles and I have a more recently made rake that’s really just junk and made out of aluminum. This rake handle, however, is made with tough steel. And that’s exactly what I need on my farm. Living rurally, how my family’s farm looks to other people is inconsequential to me. Instead, I’m more interested in how the farm WORKS. If leaves fall on the ground (which they always do), it’s not a problem—why waste time and a plastic bag picking them up only to put them in the dump like city folks or burn them like they do in the country? But when I can use those leaves to make compost, then they become an opportunity. And a money saving one, at that. This rake does the job. This is a heavy duty rake. I love how it looks and especially how it feels in my hands. The tines are thick and sturdy and quickly rake up everything—including nuts and twigs. It’s also sturdy enough for me to take it in the forest if I need more leaves for compost and works wonderfully with both straw and hay. ... show more

  • Good Quality Rake!
Model: 48 inch
This sturdy, well made rake appears like it will be a good addition to my outdoor tools for yard work! I believe this is the 60" model not the 48" because i'm 6'1" and it's close to my size which I liked as I used it to blend sand & soil & grate rocks out of the garden beds. There is no give when using it and I like that the cross members are welded to the rack head! The finish on the rack is very good & assembly was simple with no problems! You can easily take one section out to make it comfortable for a shorter person & connections are not where you place your hands to work. Another plus would be that it easily disassembles to take it mobile if needed. The one concern I do have about it is where the connections are that water will get inside & rust from the inside. Of course the real test will come in a few months (December) when its time to cut vines & thicket and roll those big piles over to the waste pile. I look forward to the extra length of this rack to keep me further from the thorns! ... show more

  • Super strong and sturdy
Model: 36 inch
Very nice rake and handle. It's constructed of stainless steel and has what looks like a baked on coating. The metal is thicker than most rakes I've used. The handle is actually what I like best. It's made of the same metal with a comfortable rubber handle. My rakes always have a wooden handle that gets weathered and splintered. The handle is in adjustable screw-together pieces and easy to assemble. This is a great rake and a good value. ... show more

  • Great quality
Model: 60 inch
The Hub is the yard guy and he loves a good yard tool. This is his current favorite! it really is heavy duty and well constructed. Makes raking easy because it is so well made. Picks up a lot at one time. Perfect for the upcoming fall season. Recommend it for any garden enthusiast.
