The media could not be loaded. just hooked it up, and the most pleased with the magnet for the other one that I was considering had a lot of bad reviews about the magnet being not strong enough for the unit. This guy is not going anywhere pretty simple lotta flow good price. I recommend now I’ve only used it for like 20 minutes so we’ll see how it acts with you. You know algae and all that other stuff salt water is hard on anything, so I’m very pleased. OK, I just want to say after a few days using it that that pre-filter thing they have like around the intake to the powerhead is pretty bad ass some of the cheaper ones you have to like pick pick at the housing itself this you could just like take that filter ring off, you know take it your sink, clean it off and put it back on the Head .which is definitely cool ... show more

They help to keep water moving, which adds aeration, helps with filtration and is healthy for your fish. This wave maker is super easy to install and program. I would never buy a non-programmable wave maker, since you want them to shut off when your lights are off, which allows the fish to sleep in calm waters. Also, the feed mode is a huge deal for me. I don't always feed my fish at the exact time each day, so being able to just press that button to turn the wave maker off during feedings is a big plus. You will find that if it is left on during feeding, it pushes the food around too fast, as well as around rocks, plants, etc. , basically wasting food and creating more issues in your tank. The other thing about wave makers that people need to know, they require at minimum monthly cleanings. Depending on your setup and number of plants, things can get tangled on the impeller shaft of your wave maker. If this happens, it can cause your wave maker to run noisily and or shut down. If you hear your wave maker start grinding or making unusual noises, you need to turn it off, take it out and disassemble it to clean. A very simple procedure after awhile. Do your research, learn how to do maintenance on wave makers (very easy) and I think you will find this one to be a very nice addition to your tank. ... show more

Update: After 10 days of running, one is making a terrible noise as if it's struggling to run. I didn't get the filter guard with either of the 2 I ordered. Not a deal breaker, but if you can't deliver on something so simple it's worrying about other aspects such as quality. Having said that, I've only had them a short period of time but they move water well, they're quiet and the controllers are easy to use and set up. Out of the box, they work great... we'll see how long they last. ... show more

Moves a Lot of Water: I love this 3400GPH Aquarium Wave Maker. It moves a ton of water, almost silently. The increased flow in my tank has been noticeable and beneficial for my fish and corals. Affordable Option: It’s relatively inexpensive, which is a big plus. If it dies, I won’t hesitate to grab another one. It’s a great option for those who need a strong powerhead without breaking the bank. Not Perfect: It's true that it’s not from a well-known brand, so I’m not sure about its longevity. Also, the controller isn’t the most intuitive or easy to set up. But once it’s going, it does its job well. Magnetic Mounting: The magnetic mounting makes it easy to position in the tank. It’s secure and doesn’t budge, which is great for maintaining the desired flow direction. Final Thoughts: Overall, this powerhead is a great deal.
