  • Neat idea, but poorly designed and difficult to use.
Color: Red
This guitar looked so cool in the description, and captured my daughter's and my imagination! I really love the way this looks, the pick up, and included Amp make it a nice little package, but the reality is so much different as my hopes for this took a nose dive. New strings will always stretch so I was prepared for that, but what I didn't count on was that the harmonics were way, way off and even when I was able to adjust that to a certain extent, made it difficult to play at all. I had hoped to get my daughter started on this guitar, but the whole body bends when trying to play a chord and the neck appears to be off as well, or maybe just bends with the whole body. When I was finally able to get it tuned and set up the harmonics, it still didn't sound right when playing a chord. I could bar chord a little and sometimes get a regular chord to sound OK, but had to use a very light touch since the whole instrument would bend some and warp the chord. I had really hoped this would be a decent starter guitar for my daughter, but it's more of a fun play toy to make noise with. The little Amp is decent and gives a pretty good overdrive effect for its size, but with such tuning problems, it is difficult to play anything without sounding terrible. ... show more

  • Defective NOT GIFT READY child guitar
Color: Red
The box, packaging, and presentation are cute and well-designed, but may have left the instrument vulnerable to moisture. I love the concept of this child acoustic guitar capable of sound amplification. Unfortunately, it has some major issues that make it not playable and not gift ready. The STRINGS are corroded. "New strings elasticity" is definitely not the issue. Per the ad, it shows an additional back-up set of NEW STRINGS included, but mine only came with 1 string backup, not the 5 strings shown. As each of the 5 strings are different thickness and notes, 1 string is not so useful. It also shows 2 picks, but mine came with only 1 pick. The AMP does not come with batteries or a power cord. When plugged in with my own power cord, the amp does not work with the guitar-to-amp CABLE provided. The amp is barely audible even with a professional guitar-to-amp cable substituted. There is an unsightly PAPER LABEL crinkled and glued inside the guitar that is not good for sound. The metal parts appear to be used and corroded as well, the string winding parts and frets show long term wear. If this is an up-cycled instrument, old parts with new parts, that's excellent, but it should say so in the ad. I was going to try to fix all these things, but I just don't have the time or money to spend on this project that may ultimately not work if the frets are not in the correct spacing for the notes scale or if there are any further unknown issues. ... show more

  • Arrived Broken
Color: Teal
This guitar arrived well packaged. But it arrived with the top separating from the body of the guitar. The body is some type of plastic polymer and the top appears to be a little sturdier than balsa wood. There are electronics inside and s small block that appears they tried to glue to the body of the guitar but failed. Real hollow body guitars have some problems with strength and durability, but this appears to have always been hopeless. I could try to reglue the block to the body and the top to the rim to the body, but I'm afraid that the moment I try to tune up the strings, the whole thing will come flying apart. Also, there are really sharp fret ends here. Nobody learning guitar should ever have to play something that will likely cut their fingers. Unsurprisingly, the tuning keys also appear to be a bit flimsy. Don't know what else to day, except that if you want your kid to have an acoustic beginner guitar then get them a real wooden one. And if you want your kid to have a smaller acoustic-electric guitar, then maybe a very short scale travel type guitar would work. But not this one. ... show more
