  • Plenty of product and no excessive waste.
As you can see in the photos I needed to install a ladder on the transom of my boat with four of the mounting holes below the waterline. I ordered this Berkland marine sealant (3 oz) and I was pleased that I did not have to deal with a giant caulking tube of material when I only needed a relatively small amount for the holes and associated hardware. So, a few observations if you end up using this product. There are good instructions included and it's worth taking a few minutes to read through them before beginning your project. Having some paper towels and a can of acetone handy is just good common sense. You will note that they included a pair of gloves....wear them! I found that the initial cut I made to the dispensing tip was too small. I was squeezing the tube so hard that it began to unfold at the other end. I stopped, cut a larger hole in the dispensing tip, and re-folded the opposite end of the tube. I put sealant in the bolt holes, behind the brackets, and all over the bolt heads (after I tightened them down). Even though my hardware/bolts are all stainless steel, I plan to use my boat in both fresh and saltwater and I don't want ANY corrosion on those bolts. My installation took place on a 75 degree day and within a few hours the product was dry to my touch. I don't plan to actually test the ladder installation until 24 hours has elapsed, however, I'm fairly confident that this is a “one and done” in the best possible meaning of the phrase! The price point ($13) is neither dirt cheap nor stupid expensive but if the integrity of your boat is important to you, this is money well spent. Five stars. ... show more

  • This is permanent stuff
This Marine sealant worked well and flowed easily. I was able to work with it on the joints of my plumbing piping. The one thing to keep in mind for this particular sealant is that this version of marine sealant is a permanent bonding sealant so I only used it on joints that I did not anticipate ever taking apart again; like runs of pipes. I would not use it on joints needing occasional disconnection, like drain pipes. This sealant is more expensive than regular sealant/caulk because you can work with it "below the waterline"; i.e., you can use it in the water. Regular caulk will just dissolve in water so it can't be used in wet joints. After application, I let it dry for 24 hours as per directions and the leak is gone. I really liked that this sealant worked and flowed just like regular caulk. It provided a nice, smooth transition between the fittings. I could easily wipe it up to make a good looking joint and I could easily clean up the tube and the small tip from the excess. I really liked that this product comes in smaller 3 oz. tube so you don't have to buy a lot of this sealant. Too often, I have to buy a standard 8 to 12 oz. tube for a small job only needing an once or so, then the rest just goes to waste as it hardens in the tube! This is a nice option for my smaller jobs. ... show more

  • Works well, nice size tube.
I got these for a pool skimmer repair. The tube is perfect because its a smaller quantity for a smaller job, but also in the case of my skimmer it allowed access into a smaller space that a caulking gun was never going to get to. My only issue is that it's very thick for dispensing from a tube so you can't lay down a small bead. I was hoping for something thinner that could be squeezed into a narrow slot. I laid down a bead and used my gloved finger to force it in. The sealant clings to the glove more than a smooth fiberglass or PVC surface so its a bit messy. The product is very white and seems to be really strong once cured. The free gloves that came with it are useless, too small for my small hands and tore easily. No stars off for this, I needed more than one pair any way and have some good quality ones. ... show more

  • Great for DIY projects
I actually ordered this marine adhesive sealant for a project I'm doing with tiles in my bathroom. The tile is self adhesive but I wanted to make sure no water got past the tiles so I sealed the outside edges with this marine adhesive. It was fairly easy to use once I knew how it reacted to the surface the tile was going on. It's performed well and seens to be doing the job it was menr to do. Its really durable to. Definitely worth the purchase. ... show more

  • perfect for sealing holes in transom
My boat came with an older depth finder, but recently upgraded to a modern fish finder. This was perfect for sealing the holes where the old transducer and speed sensor were located, and sealed up the new screws where I mounted the new transducers. Was easy to apply, and cured nicely keeping my boat leak free. ... show more

  • Use for Dry Surfaces
I had hoped that when it said above and below the waterline that it could be applied on a wet surface. But that’s not so. You have to apply it to a dry surface, let it dry, and then it can be submerged in water. The tube is bigger than I expected.

  • Claims a permanent bond below water line.
Claims a permanent bond below water line. If this performs like 3m 5200, its a good deal. No telling until I run this for a year or so.

  • Exactly the same as 3M5200
A less expensive way to get the quality of the 3M product with the same name. It’s so much resembles the 3M brand I have to offer the same advice as with that product, if you don’t want it on something, tape it off. Good stuff
