  • Great Clamps, Impressive Screw Length
Size: High Base
The media could not be loaded. I will start by saying these are much better than the surplus tool supply versions available out there. I ordered the high base option, and I compared them to the leading brand of the same option. In my video, the product being reviewed is on the right, and immediately left is the leading brand. There are a few obvious differences. Firstly, the casting on these, although similar, is smaller and not quite as robust. The finish is more glossy on these, which I think will help keep them cleaner. Another pleasant surprise, the threaded portion on these is a fair bit longer than the leading brand, giving you at least an inch or so more length for tightening! Although the non-marring pads on these are soft and help project your clamping surfaces, they are almost too pliable, and have a tendency to slip off if you aren't paying attention to that fact. In summary, I think these are great clamps, with some advantages over the leading brand, but the non-marring pads are too pliable and easy to lose. ... show more

  • OK, Just Who Does Not Need More Clamps?
Size: High Base
One of the "laws of woodworking" is that you can never have too many clamps. And the more you work with wood, the more true that turns out to be. These are the traditional "pipe clamps" that use sections of 3/4" iron pipe (that you need to supply). You can make these clamps as short or as long as you need, only limited by the length of pipe that you can find. The screw-clamp end turns smoothly, so it is easy to get the right clamping pressure, and the other, moveable end is easy to adjust for your clamping gap. I got the version of the clamps with the stand-offs that allow the clamp to set about an inch above your workbench surface, as I find this a bit easier when doing glue-ups. The version without the stand-offs should clamp just as well, and the choice is simply personal preference. My only complaint about pipe-clamps is not about the clamps themselves... it is simply that the cost of the iron pipe used with this style of clamp has become darned expensive. It is now easy to find decent steel bar clamps that are nearly as good, and less expensive than these pipe-clamps, and that cost difference is even before you add the cost of the pipe you will use. Still, the pipe clamps are always more rigid than the bar-clamps, and that counts for something. If you have a good, inexpensive source of pipe (threaded on just one end), these pipe-clamps are a very good addition to your workshop. If you have to buy the pipe at current market prices, you might want to consider other options. ... show more

  • Add some 3/4” black pipe for clamps of any length
Size: Regular Base
Pipe clamps like these are super versatile and usefully for both woodworking and metal work/welding. These have smooth threads and the clamps work nicely with jaws that stay perpendicular. The adjustable end moves easily, but still will lock firmly when put under pressure. Typically you purchase 3/4” black pipe at the big box store that’s twice the length you need and threaded on both ends, then cut in half. You can also buy any length and just leave both threads so you can attach another length of oipe for super long clamps ... show more

  • Versatile Create your Own Length!
Size: High Base
PROS: Heavy Duty with standard 3/4" pipe thread, create clamps of any length to suit your needs and change anytime, nice long crank length, smooth working slides, rubber sleeves for protecting delicate surfaces, versatile with purebred holes so you can fasten them down, or stand them up and off...CONS: A little difficult to get the sliding piece in (the spring clips wants to stay in the middle of the pipe hole and needs a bit of persuading to initially get it onto the pipe) works fine and locks in good once on. Great value for a very versatile and adaptable clamp set. ... show more

  • Great option
Size: High Base
These seem to work as well as the rockler pipe clamps that I already have. This is a good option if you need clamps and anyone who does any woodworking knows; you can never have too many clamps. Most pipe clamps cost this much for just one so the price is excellent

  • Works as they should
Size: High Base
I've gotten some bar type clamps through the years. Only problem was they were made in certain lengths. There have been times I wish I had longer ones. I keep seeing these through the years but never got them. Wasn't sure how they would hold up. Went with a friend over to a friend of his and seen him have them. Chatted with him about them. So figured I would finally give them a try. They work better than I was expecting. Now I have a couple 8 ft clamps. Though I would probly never need that length, its nice to know I could. Think I am gonna get me a couple more to add to the clamp selections. Seems well built and don't see them ever having a issue, but will update this if need be. ... show more
