  • Small but useful!
Make sure you pay attention to the dimensions. It's small but still useful. It clamped on easily to my workbench and comes in handy on small projects. It's pretty sturdy and gets the job done.

  • This is a versatile vice, very flexible with smaller clamping jobs
Just picking it up, this vice feels very substantial. It has a lot of weight to it for its size, so it feels high quality for a bench vise. What I like most about it is its versatility. Because it clamps to the bench, it can be repositioned in different places or even on different objects wherever you need it. The widest the base will open is about 2 1/2" / 70mm so make sure your bench/table edge isn't too thick to attach the vise. In addition to being able to position the vise wherever you want, the body can rotate 360 degrees which gives you a lot more freedom in how you can position things (which can make it much easier to support things you are clamping). There is a lever to lock its angle and it holds securely, at least in my experience. The main jaws are "low profile" and do not stick out very far from the main body. This makes the design compact, but there isn't a ton of space between the jaws and the screw rod beneath. Small objects would probably fit in the jaws ok. You might only be able to clamp the edge of medium and larger items. There is an "anvil" on the back of the body. It really more of a smooth, flat lump. I don't see a need for it, but it's there, in case it would be useful for you. They also included protective rubber pads for all of the clamping points, and they work pretty well. I clamped the vise onto a benchtop of fairly soft wood and the clamp didn't leave any dents or marks when I removed it. All in all I like the build quality and the versatility of its design. The only thing I don't like is how "shallow" the jaws bite area is. I think it will be fine for the smaller things I will do, but it limits its usefulness for supporting larger boards and objects. ... show more

  • Works as expected
First I have to say that shipping was faster than I expected. I was looking for a small utility vice to use on the back of my yard truck. It mounts easily and functions as expected. The additional jaw pads are a welcome option for protecting softer items from clamping damage. The spindle is not necessarily as smooth as one would expect, but a little all purpose grease remedied that issue. Out of the box, the swivel base was quite tight to rotate and the unlock lever is a bit hard to operate. Some additional lubrication basically corrected the stiff swiveling, but the lever remains tight. It's been exposed to rain a few times. The anvil and the jaws show a little rust, but this is not meant to be exposed to the elements, so it's not the fault of the product. I've put a light coat of oil on both to mitigate the rusting. The rest of the vise is well protected from the rain by its nice black and silver powder coated finish. Overall, I'm satisfied with this small vise. ... show more

  • just one weaker link: the 360 vertical axis lock is apt to slip.
This is a sturdy and dependable vise in all other respects, but the jaw-platform rotation lock is not as positive as might be desired. The locking lever is short and not always easily accessible. Hand tightening is obviously intended to avoid damage caused by excessive leverage. That said this problem can be minimized by use of clamps or blocks to secure the waste-end of the workpiece from moving. Think of this as enhancing vise performance. This strategy is most obvious when dealing with very long objects. For small objects a tail can often be secured with a clamp or temporary screws. Enough of that. One positive aspect of this vise kit are the rubber disks to protect the finished surfaces to which the vise may be clamped, and two rubber jaw covers for securing more delicate workpieces. This feature deserves a bit more attention than it received in the advertisement pages. The images and descriptions are accurate and informative. There seemed little reason to provide more such pictures. I save that for when I find misleading images or false claims to challenge. This is a strong four-star rating, not a kind-five, if only because those of us who have not become adept at finding workarounds for less than perfect tools may tend to be easily frustrated when a vise come loose at just the wrong moment, perhaps spoiling hours of careful work. The price is reasonable and in the right hands I have no reason not to recommend it. ... show more

  • Great small clamp
It's a small clamp but very sturdy if you can get it clamped well. That's really the only issue I have with the functionality is that it isn't deep enough to get a good bite on the work surface without some trouble. Once it's set though, it's very sturdy. Mine arrived damaged as the pin on the side isn't protected and was damaged in shipping. I had to bend it back and now it works okay. It will work well for smaller projects. ... show more

  • Works great
I needed something to hold pieces of material while I banged on them with a hammer. Anyone who has done this before knows it will make some vise's start to wobble and get flimsy feeling. Not this one, this thing is taking a beating and still feels great, moves smooth. Great buy.

  • Handy small portable vice
This vise is easy to setup and use. It stands 4” tall from the workbench, 3” wide and the jaws open up to 3.2”. I like that you can rotate the piece you are working on while it’s clamped in place just by loosening the arm on the side.

  • Pretty basic but good start
It has the ability to rotate and clamp tightly but the closing lever arm is a little short so getting good clamping tightness may require additional tools. For a basic work bench on a budget this is adequate however.
