This is a super nice & well performing drive & very fast imho for a SATA 2.5" SSD. Granted, an NVME type drive is usually faster than these types, but this drive is still REALLY fast & performed flawlessly in my tests. This SSD comes with nothing except the drive. No screws, little screwdrivers etc. It is completely a raw drive, so you will have to first initialize the drive in Windows Disk Management, & then format it before it will show up and work. That is all a relatively easy deal though & takes about 2 minutes. I would initialize as a GPT drive & format to NTFS if there is any question as to what to choose in that procedure. ...I guess there's a similar disk management tool in Mac machines, but as I don't have any, you can search that on your own! Once initialized & formatted, the drive performed great in all tests. All my transfer speed tests were performed with this drive from an external USB-3 enclosure, so keep in mind these speeds will even be faster if you install directly through a SATA interface plugged directly into the motherboard, OR through a USB-C type enclosure. The read or write speed is MORE than acceptable on this drive through a USB-3 external enclosure though in my opinion. When copying to & from some of my faster drives (NVME mostly) onto & off of this one, I got around the 260's to 270's MB/s write speeds, & well into the 350's MB/s & up to 400 when reading from this drive. In real world speeds this translates to being able to transfer around a 20 gig video file in about 30 seconds, give or take a smidge. These speeds were pretty much identical whether the drive being copied to or from was attached via external enclosures using USB-C or through a SATA interface going directly into the motherboard. Again a little slower through an external enclosure using USB-3. Speeds in copying files are also going to be different & limited by the other drive you're copying to or from so keep that in mind. ...But long story short, the speeds for this drive are pretty much as advertised no doubt (See CrystalDiskMark results in pics also). All transfers were rock solid & steady & with no issues whatsoever. All in all, an excellent budget Solid State drive, and it has a 3 year warranty on it (on the box) so if you have any problems, you should have little trouble getting a replacement in that time frame. Of course critical data, pics etc, can never be replaced, so as with any budget drive,(or ANY drives!) I advise you to back up anything really important, in case that "Rainy Day" does come. I've tested lots of drives though & this one did fantastic out of the gate. Well worth the minimal price. ... show more

I am using this FANXIANG 256GB SATA SSD as an external drive. This drive is working well, and I am happy with it. It is connected to my Windows 10 PC via a USB-C port and external case. This is another one of those very "an SSD" SSDs. Cost wise, yeah it's pretty good. 20 bucks for this is not bad at all. Space, yeah for 20 bucks, not bad either. It's limited to SATA speeds, but it does run about as fast as it can on that standard. This type of drive is best suited for storage these days. This would be a pretty excellent choice to slap in a little HDD enclosure, since USB 3 is more than capable of saturating the maximum data throughput of the SATA standard many times over. Build quality, totally fine. Has threaded metal insets for mounting. And the connectors are sturdy enough. Yeah, it's a hard drive. Won't knock socks off, but will store your files. ... show more

I received this a while ago and have it installed in an external enclosure for storing content for my ROG Ally. It's working perfectly fine for my purposes; transfer speeds are fast at around 40MB/s through USB 3.0 on my laptop. You can get better performance by installing this as an internal drive, but I wanted faster portable storage. Capacity is accurate and overall I don't have any complaints. Get this if you want extra storage or to swap out an old 2.5" HDD. ... show more

Very fast read / write speeds. Less than about 2 seconds to transfer a 40gb virtualbox HDD image from m.2 to this drive on SATA. The capacity appears to be correct, time will tell if it has decent write counts before failure. but so far, i'm happy with the device!
