I've tried a few of these bulb cameras now as I wanted one to monitor my cats in the catio when I'm away from home. First camera wouldn't connect away from home, and this one works well but a few things really bothered me about it so I'm returning it for a different one. I temporarily have been setting these up inside with the bulb facing up and plan to move them outdoors later into a lamp with the bulb facing down. I may get two, one for inside and one for outside. I already have a more professional camera outside but it faces a different direction. (1) If you have a micro SD card installed, it records secret motion video even if you have all the settings turned off. When you view 'History' there's always video recorded there. You can reset it, delete and reformat the SD card and once you reconnect and set it up it starts recording video even if all motion video options are turned off. Kind of annoying is it can capture things you may not have intended or care to see, like setting up the camera in your underwear or whatever. (2) The microphone will feedback loop if you have the camera set inside and you use the app to view the live video in the same room or if you're near it. It will continue to grow and screech louder and louder, only way to stop it is to quickly quit the app. Annoying if you're setting things up or testing in close proximity. Most of these cameras in this price bracket and style do not have audio settings, wish you could at least mute the audio, would just be an app control. (3) Setup is a little more involved than others. It's not difficult but some of the callouts are incorrect. When you first setup is says to choose "smart camera" from the app. But there is no 'smart camera' listed. If you choose 4G camera and try to scan the QR code it's not going to work. You have to select "Power Plug Camera" then inside that you can choose the bulb camera. After that just follow the prompts, you don't need to scan any actual QR code. I was able to set this up two rooms away from our WiFi router so no big deal having to be close. During setup it creates a new network name on your router, so even though you initially connect to you WiFi network as usual, you have to reselect the new network name. If often fails after trying to connect to your network for 2 minutes the first time. Then you have to hit try to 'connect a different way', this actually works and is quick. If you hold the reset button for 5 seconds the light blinks red, then hit it again for one second the light will blink blue. Then hit connect and within a few seconds it connects to your WiFi network and is good to go. (4) SD card slot and reset buttons completely exposed to weather! The description says this is for outdoor use, but the reset button and micro SD card have no cover. Other cameras have a rubber cover to keep moisture out, but this one doesn't. Depending the camera angle being used the slots are often exposed to the elements and water could easily seep inside. (5) The infrared lights are always on. Pretty sure all these bulb cameras are this way. My nicer security camera lets you turn them off. Problem is, if you setup the camera inside or too close to a window, it reflect light. Even though they are a dim red/purple glow they show up on cameras or video as bright white reflective light, almost as if the white lights were on. This is annoying at night because with them off the camera is able to see fairly well if there's some ambient light or street light on, but if your camera is inside looking out a window all you're going to see if bright white light reflections. There should be the option to turn these off, again just another app control. (6) Does not come with bulb extender or plug attachment like others. Not a huge deal. (7) Does come with paper instruction manual. Otherwise this camera as about as good as any in the 2K image quality range and price. The PTZ panning controls are a little more touchy and moves as larger increments than others. It does allow you to easily hook up multiple cameras and name them your own or to different rooms, I'm guessing they would have to be the same kind of bulb cameras. NEEDS: mute incoming audio function, stop recording if all settings are off, option to turn off infrared lights, option to turn on white LEDs as night light. ... show more

Day vision is clear, and I can see from my front of the garage to the main street. With the help of the app, this camera can move from left to right, upwards and downwards with a clear picture. You can activate the voice speaker and greet your guest or company. The night vision is clear as well. You can see the same clear picture at night just like in the daytime. The camera is a motion sensor and light turn on when passing by or hearing vehicles. The lightbulb can handle windy days and rainy nights. Add an SD card for memory and recordings. I was amazed by how well this security camera works. I bought it just prior to taking a day trip. Our destination was about 120 miles away and I didn't want the extra expense of pet daycare. We have two dogs, one is only 7 months old. With the camera and their App installed on my cell phone we were able to watch them the whole time including while we were on the road. When we got to our destination everyone was surprised how well this camera worked. We could follow both dogs as they roamed around the dining room and living room areas and zoom in and out at will. Now we use it even if we're just shopping in town. Picture clarity is excellent and the app was super easy to install. the instructions made everything very easy.     • Okay for a basic security cam
I like that this only requires you to screw in the cam to a light socket, just like a bulb. I am using it for my front porch instead of the light. I really wish I could somehow keep power to the cam without having to keep the light switch in the house on at all times. (my garage lamps also come on when I use the switch.) I will need to have the garage lamps rewired, so that they are not connected to the porch lights, I guess. I also needed an extender for this since I could not screw it into the porch socket due to its shape. I have updated my review to great since I added an extender. The picture quality is very good day and night and the motion detection works very well with not much lag time in the movement of the cam to object. I like the fact that you can easily SHARE this feed with your family or a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on things while you are away. One improvement I would like to see is that even if the cam is OFFLINE, I should still be able to see the HISTORY or screenshots stored on the SD card but this is impossible without some kind of power to the device. Maybe a REPLACEABLE, RECHARGEABLE battery being incorporated into the design? (charges while on house power or removed and placed into a Universal/Rayovac/Energizer charging unit. ... show more

I use several of these for security monitoring. They are very easy to set up and the picture quality is very good. Even the audio is amazing for this price point. Best thing for me is they are powered by the light socket so you don't have to run separate power to them. Since they are also PTZ, they are perfect for ceiling mount. you can simply replace a reassessed light bulb and the entire room is covered. ... show more

    • Very economical method to get Security at your home
We purchased two of the security lights-One of the front and one at the yard. The yard camera is to see our dogs at night. The clarity for the price of this camera is amazing. We also like the camera at the front door so we can see whoever comes to the house and we are not here. There is a remote system and application that you can use right off of your phone. You can also move the camera around and there’s a microphone that you can speak to anyone at the front door or even your dogs in the yard. I would buy this over and over again.
