Top Amazon Reviews

  • Simply outstanding with a few sacrifices.
Style: 2+32GB, Mirror Link
PROS: Beautiful, high quality, satisfactory resolution screen with great colors, direct sunlight high brightness is good, and low light low-brightness is good. Both day and night are adjustable in settings. Fair touch screen response with awesome backlit touch buttons that illuminate for night time driving visibility. No visible branding!! Thank you! Extremely light weight and thin construction so that more varied mounting options are available. Incredibly high quality build for the price. Android 9 OS w/ carlinkit adapter support works almost flawlessly. 8888 is factory unlock code to access some really cool options in the ROM. Better than expected sound quality. Certainly better than 90 of stock decks. Not the worst DAC, EQ, or output volume, and surprisingly compliant preamp outs for picky factory integration boxes. High quality wiring. Simple instructions. Horrible but still included backup camera that actually works... Yes really. They did not need to include one at all for 110 dollars but they did. The price is awesome for what you get. I wanted unbranded specifically and Android auto so it appears stock. Price aside. And I got it with this unit. CONS: Weak Bluetooth. It will not work outside the car or with cell phone in pocket of thick pants. Big bummer. High end of decent Bluetooth Sound quality with AVRCP. Abysmal WiFi. It would not even register until my phone hotspot was within 10 ft. Wouldn't connect until 5ft. Wouldn't actually pass data until it was in the cubby directly underneath the unit in my car less than 6in from the stereo. No external mic option. But the unit I received did have a front mic that ACTUALLY works. It's God awful but it is possible to understand a person. I couldn't believe it was actually as good as it was but would've liked it if they refrained from giving us a crap 15 dollar backup camera and gave a mic possibility instead. There are clones that have a harness jack for a mic. Maybe try one of those if that is a deal breaker. I know because I bought one from another brand first and had to return it due to DOA. It had a mic Jack in the harness. Very bizarrely designed equalizer. I still don't get it but I just fiddled with it until the sound was good. It also occasionally resets to defaults. Annoying and unnecessary. The unit is annoyingly slow due to the no name eMMC flash chip. It is like HDD levels of slow so installing apps and copying data over is a huge pain. I only use it for Android auto though. Honestly I just wanted a screen but this was actually cheaper and better than converting a tablet. I seldom use the head unit without AA running on it so I don't care. The launcher is awful. Download car launcher or Nova. There's no Bluetooth app widget so you have to go into the app to control it. Some of the other clones of this unit do have these software amenities. Not a game changer but really would be nice. Finally this is a big con... There are bound to be tons of different revisions of this unit in both hardware and software. It's hard to keep track. The software will become obsolete as time progresses to the point where your data might be compromised. And there's also no telling how the longevity is on these China units with no name parts. I've never had anything but good experiences but that's anecdotal and maybe not common. These are not concerns to me and I love this unit. I'll try to buy another one if it goes. Final thoughts: Android Auto is where this unit shines. It runs and looks great. It sounds pretty good too and controls well. It was exactly what I wanted and it ended up being cheap as hell completely by coincidence. I initially hated having to ditch the big brands I've always gone with in the past but honestly they are all scam artists when you compare what you get for the money with a unit like this vs the cheapest thing in the same ballpark made by pioneer. I have seen and used the latest pioneer flagship that is sitting around 800 dollars. This cheap POS is better in more ways than not. What exactly do you get when you buy something like that anyway? I have a hard time understanding where your money goes buying a big brand after seeing this Chinese thing. The build quality is objectively outstanding in every obvious way. It puts all the big brands to shame, especially in the screen. ... show more

  • No mute button. 2005 Honda Element EX
Style: 2+32GB, Mirror Link
According to what I read in the reviews before I purchased this, this unit is supposed to have subwoofer support. But the harness that plugs into the subwoofer pin does not have a wire! (SEE PICTURE) UPDATE: I ordered some 28 AWG jumper wires (female to male) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GD1R5MS/ and hooked up the subwoofer pin (and a black ground pin) and am pleased that the subwoofer is now working WELL!!!! +1 star. These jumpers are also handy to pass through from the other pins to the MetraOnline harness. I do wish the unit had a MUTE button. Spotify and Waze both run fine natively on this unit. Bluetooth works and can send/receive calls and the microphone works well. The unit has "instant on" capabilty and lights up with home screen as soon as you turn the key. (picture in #1 is of the Brainiac launcher) UPDATE Not sure why my launcher won't control the volume. This is annoying because there is no mute button, so I have to fumble for the tiny volume down button if I want to turn the volume down quickly. Would be much better if it had a volume knob. I was able to install it with minimal modification to my vehicle, using the factory screws (see picture) and only having to drill 4 holes into a non-exposed part of the factory bezel. (see picture) It took minimal effort but fits well, is secure but easy to pop out, and looks like it was designed for the Element. The GPS antenna fits in a cubbyhole under the passenger dash, and works more or less well enough, but sometimes get confused. Would be better if I relocated the GPS antenna to somewhere under the roof but I don't want to mess with that. The wifi ability of this unit isn't great. Will work tethered to your phone right there in the car, but doesn't work so well to the house wifi, even when I'm only 20 feet away, maybe as others have noted because it doesn't have an external wifi antenna. Also probably has to do with the quality of the wifi radio in the unit. But overall it is a good value for $139.99 (I got the 2g/32g version) I got the MetraOnline 70-7863 wire harness which is specifically made to retain the factory features (Aux IN port in the dash) and factory amplifiers/subwoofer on the Honda Element EX. I got some "Phono RCA Screws Male Female Plug to AV Screw Terminal Audio/Video Connector Adapter (10 Male +10 Female Connector)" to make wiring easier. Upon further consideration I decided to give it 5 stars because it only cost $139.99 and was an excellent upgrade for my old vehicle. But I hope to find a solution to quickly control volume. ... show more

  • Mediocre
Style: 2+32GB, Mirror Link
It looks good visually; however some functions are really bad. This was installed on a 2005 Honda Pilot. Sound quality is horrible, via Bluetooth, usb video playback, YouTube and almost every other aspect. You have to turn it up as loud as possible to barely hear anything. Radio is spotty, but it at least sounds ok. Installation requires some modification, its very generic and pretty much wedge in where it sits. I'll try to upload pics later. Navigation is laggy. I guess you get what you pay for. Basically big screen with touch features that lets you listen to the radio. ... show more
