THE BAD. 1. When not used as a midi controller, it only has piano sound. 2. even when you were using it as a midi controller, it must have the wall outlet plugged in to power it. “Update (it does have more than one sound, you have to hold the piano button in and then turn the volume nob… It has 28 sounds) 3. keys don’t feel like a piano at all,(which I expected) but they also don’t feel like a keyboard either! (which I did not expect lol) 4. It does work with software like logic and QBase, but it seems to have some weird quirks when running through “main stage” 5. although it can play a lot of notes at one time, it struggles to play trills (“come sail away” for example) and that’s kind of a big deal! THE GOOD. 1. although it requires the power adapter to work, they do include it, and it seems to be a good quality. 2. The connection ports on the back! Absolutely the best thing about this midi controller/keyboard is the connection options on the back! I see these cheap keyboards, including 8th inch sustain pedal ports instead of quarter inch and that’s ridiculous to me.. This has quarter inch sustain pedal! Usb type B (printer, cable) which is one of the better connections. And it has line in and headphones out. 3. you can set the output of your computer to play through the speakers of this unit!(I think that’s pretty cool to include on a cheaper keyboard) 4. The sound is tolerable. Occasionally the sound of a hit key will be very soft during spirited playing for no reason. Also, the action is too heavy for my taste. These aren't true weighted keys, but I think the key springs should be lighter. Having to press the keys down so hard does affect my playing especially when playing close to the back of the keys. The real benefit of this machine is portability. You can fly with this as a carry-on or let your kid take it to friends' houses for jam sessions. The tone of the musical notes is, of course, not like a real piano. There is a slight "tinny" sound. But for a portable foldable piano, this Cossain is the best choice in this price range. The construction is better than other models I checked out. When I travel this works well for the purpose of keeping up with my practice. And the tone is actually better with the headphones. It all comes down to preference honestly. I prefer my yamaha 88 p-47 electric. As it stands my yamaha's quality is the closest with a decent budget price that could mimick the sensation of a grand piano. The cossain isn't terrible and for obvious reasons the mechanics/specs wouldn't match the yamaha, however for a budget compact travel instrument it satisfies most needs. The onboard sound quality could be better but theres nothing that some additional amp etc. could not improve to get the same quality of a more expensive piano. Overall satisfied for what i need it for. Two pet peeves that just won't not bug me though is the authenticity of having an actual semi weighted key feeling. Feels like any other electric piano just with more resistance. Doesnt have that bounce/rebound you would normally get as an original grand or the yamaha p47. The other, and im unsire if its just me, when multiple keys are hit towards the latter octaves i feel like a couple keys become washed out as suppose to hearing each individual key in unison. ... show more

Great deal as far as sound quality and features. Too bad it doesn't have a rhythm section and not just drums. Musical accompaniment would have been nice.

I got this for my grandson and he loves it! He is 13 years old and has been playing the piano for 6 years and this year he started organ lessons. He uses this keyboard to practice both piano and organ.

    • Great Weighted Keys! Great Sound!!
As a piano teacher, I use this keyboard to teach lessons to students of all ages and ability. The sound quality is great, and I'm impressed by it's sensitivity to touch, similar to a real piano. I love that it's so easy to carry around and definitely recommend! The music rack isn't great at holding music book or even sheet music, but thankfully this keyboard comes with a giant music clip, and I found that if I clip that to the bottom of the music rack, the music will stay on pretty well! ... show more
