Add clearly stated backlit keyboard. Its not. keys are made for lighted use but the light source is not there. they're light gray with semitransparent characters that are nearly invisible (see photo comparing a regular keyboard and the silver Asus board). The ad also states that the Aloha Bundle is included (mouse, mousepad, HDMI cable, etc.) it is not with the package. The day after I returned mine for refund the wording in the ad was edited to omit Backlit Keyboard and replaced with a comment about the Number Pad. It still shows Aloha Bundle with the product photo. Fortunately I made screen captures of the point listed before the rewrite. ... show more

    • NO backlit keyboard
This asus laptop is probably a very nice unit.... except not for me. It does say in in the about this item that "keyboard is easy to view as you work and play" NOT TRUE!!. The computer and keys are listed as luxury silver color and the print on the keys are a lighter silver color making them difficult to see. When you scroll way down the page past more advertisements it is listed "NO BACKLIT KEYBOAED". No i didnt read EVER single word about this, my Bad. I dont understand how a laptop at this price point and loaded with other desirble specifications is sold without backlit. A call to Asus customer service not knowing it didnt have the backlit keyboard the associate didnt have a clue. i was asked to hold while they probably asked or looked it up. They had me try a few things then said it was defective and to return to seller. I googled it and yes no again. I called CS again asking does it or doesent it have backlit keyboard. That person said NO. I then called amazon CS not wanting to pay a % restocking fee. Amazon CS has always been awesome and authorized my return at full price. Bottom line is this would be a very good laptop if the backlit keyboard doesnt bother you. ... show more

The laptop as a whole is OK. The PROS are; 1), The screen is nice. 2). It is very light. 3). It is nice and thin. The CONS are; 1). The keypad IS NOT BACKLIT as noted in the description. It is VERY difficult to see. The silver buttons are marked with silver text. I chicken peck when I type so seeing the keys in any dim light is impossible. Why silver on silver, I have no idea. This is a design flaw that to me, is a deal breaker. 2). This was advertised to include, "The Aloha Bundle", whatever that is. It came with nothing but the laptop, cord, and manual. 3). I had to reload the driver for the microphone to get it to work. 4). The camera is kinda slow and grainy. For the keyboard alone, I would have chosen a different laptop myself. The wife knows how to type so it doesn't bother her. That's why I gave it an average rating of 3 stars. ... show more

I got this laptop specifically for YouTube video editing and image editing. My old laptop had trouble processing videos, especially if they videos had a lot of effects to render. It would always freeze.This one has no trouble processing videos...which is awesome. I can run multiple image editing programs and video editing programs at the same time (GIMP, Photoscape, Inkscape, PowerDirector) and it doesn't lag. The webcam is fairly clear as far as webcams go, and the audio sounds pretty good when recording. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a laptop on a budget. The only con is that it didn't include an ethernet port, so it takes longer to upload videos, because you're doing it via WiFi...but it all depends on what you're trying to use the laptop for. ... show more

I had an Asus laptop prior to this and was amazed at how many years of service I got out of it. This one is a good value for the money and performs well. My only 2 complaints are that the touchpad on it seems to be overly sensitive and that the keyboard is a little hard to see at times with the chosen color scheme. Not sure if it would help if it's backlit or not, but that usually ups the price some as well. ... show more

Great laptop. I'm an over the road truck driver of over 20 years, and simply refuse to buy a TV. Sooo, I use a laptop, unlimited mobile hotspot, Hulu Live or Pluto TV with Bose speakers (they're awesome !) as my form of entertainment. As stated, it does NOT have a backlight on the keyboard. Silver on silver IS a tad silly though. Screen quality is excellent for shows and movie streaming, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One complaint though ... They forgot my mouse pad !! As for the "aloha bundle" ?     • Great Laptop Except for Two Big Design Flaws

This is a great laptop with plenty of computing power. But it has two very annoying design flaws. The first is that they used silver on silver on the keyboard, so it is extremely difficult to read unless the light is just right. And the second is that the trackpad is horrendous. It is so difficult to control the cursor with it, and click on things. I manage by installing a mouse, but I would prefer to have a decent trackpad. ... show more

So far this laptop works well. It looks very streamline, the screen looks sharp, and its fast. However the audio is very quiet, so much so if I even have a fan on in the room I can barely hear the laptop even at full volume. I've been using software to learn a new language and the computer also has a lot of difficulty picking up my voice when I do speaking exercises. I don't think this is necessarily the worst quality, but as I use this for watching videos every day this does present an issue every time I use it. I have to watch movies, tv, etc with subtitles on even at full volume. ... show more
