  • Best over-all for basic beading how-to
I took this book out from the library, and was so happy with the content that I ordered a copy. It will be my beading bible. I'm a beginner, but this book will help me over some hurdles. Very informative photos. I didn't want project so much as how-to. Highly recommend.

  • I'm so happy I purchased this book! It's a keeper for sure.
I am a beginning beader so I have a million questions. I purchased (3) books that different reviews suggested would answer my questions. I could have just purchased 200 Beading Tips, Techniques & Trade Secrets by Jean Power. This book starts out answering the base questions and has pictures to help you understand the concept. She shows the tools you need and has some wonderful tips that made me think - "I'd never have thought of that" several times each section. It has a wonderful Glossary and a very helpful Index. I doubt that I will get around to reading the other two books because I just don't think I'll end up with any unanswered questions. What are natural beads? How do you make a good knot? What tools do I need; what do they look like: how do I use these tools. Using thread, wire, cord or ribbon it shows you the tools, knots, and just about all you need to know to make beautiful jewelry. I'm glad I have it and doubt that I will ever feel that I don't need it any more. ... show more

  • 200 Beading Tips
This book seems to be for the advanced skill level. However, you will find beading techniques in this book that I haven't found in others of its kind. Very easy reading and I would recommend this book for all age levels (younger kids with the help of a parent). If you have been doing crafts for a long time and want to get into beading this would be recommended for you. If you have the crafting mindset them you will be able to catch on very quickly. The shipping was very prompt and I did not have to wait days on end for this. The price of the book is a little less than you would get in the store so if you want it right now go ahead and buy it but if you order it you should get within a few days. I would definitely recommend this seller because of their professionalism, price of the book and their prompt deliver of this item. ... show more

  • So many projects, so little time!
I love this book! From beginning to end, this book explains everything you need to know about how to make beaded jewelry. Not only does it explain the various tools that are available, but it also shows how to use each tool and when. For each technique, it provides a project to try, noting how many beads of each color are needed (but also makes it very easy to substitute your own favorite colors). Learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. I highly recommend it if you’re brand new to beading or even if you have some experience with beading, this book will enhance your knowledge. ... show more

  • Excellent beginner book!
This is probably one of the best instructional books for beading. Especially if you're a beginner. I got this at a great price, delivery was fast.

  • I had never stitched a bead before...
I bought this book because I was curious about bead-weaving. I had never stitched a bead before. Since reading this book and working the various stitches it's taught me, I am now hooked on bead weaving. Right Angle Weave, Peyote, dutch spiral, even the seemingly difficult St. Petersburg chain and Herringbone, I can do them all and love beading them! This book is perfect for any beginner who wants to learn how to make seed bead jewelry but always thought it was too complex. I purchased this book not knowing a thing and shortly after learning the various stitches and beading 'language' I find myself mixing stitches for unique pieces and even selling a necklace! It is my 'go to' book if I forgot how to do something and the diagrams could not be more comprehensive. Many books just show shaded diagrams and I found them hard to follow. This book takes you step by step and includes photos of a person holding the beads with thread in hand, so you can compare what your doing to what it 'should' look like. There are also correction photos: 'does your work look like this?' is written next to a photo which often times I would answer 'yes..' They then tell you exactly what was done wrong and how to correct it. I can go on and on about how this book inspired me and taught me but I will end my review with this: If you ever thought of bead-weaving and are searching for a book that is easy to follow, will teach you the language, tools, bead sizes, what to watch out for, and what materials work best - then look no further, you found it. ... show more

  • Great reference book for jewelry makers
I'm relatively new (just over a year) in the jewelry making business so this book provides rich detail on, really, anything you'd need to get started as well as to reference back when you've hit a puzzle in your project. There are plenty of beading ideas out there both in books and especially on Pintrest, however many of these patterns/pictures don't help you puzzle through the more difficult process of finishing your work. I've picked this book up time and again to see not just how to do something, but how to execute it in the BEST manner. There are photos that show you how not to do as well as how TO do, which is very helpful. I also appreciate the very detailed photos that accompany the narrative. I find, too often, that instructions will tell you to "close your wire loop", however if you've never done that, the photos will show you how. The details and instructions in this book have allowed me to create my own small jewelry business. With the knowledge I've gained, I've been creating quality products that stand up to wearing, and that's not always the case with "homemade" jewelry pieces. I like and appreciate this book and do recommend it. ... show more
