I originally purchased a collar similar to this but it slipped over our dogs head instead of being clipped. We didn’t have any problems with this until our dogs head got a little bigger and we had to slide the collar over her head to give our dog a bath. I ordered this to replace that collar and love it so much more. I like the color and it seems very reliable. The band is thick so I don’t worry about it snapping. The buckle buckles appropriately and even with a tug does not seem to give any. Furthermore, the buckle has a red lock that adds more reassurance it is a reliable collar. Finally, the fact that I don’t have to shove it over our dogs neck makes me happy as it has always been a struggle as our dog doesn’t like things so close to her face and I know that I won’t have to cut it off of her when it gets to tight to get over her head. ... show more

I purchased these for my LARGE (over 120 lbs.) dog so I could train him. I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money as I'm on a fixed income. This set was reasonably priced and I'm super happy with the quality as well. My dog is strong and had a tendency to lunge whenever he'd get upset (the reason I needed to train him), he had grown out of and broken 3 collars before this one. I’ll be honest I didn’t even know what a Martingale collar was. I kept hearing about them. Then my vet had a sign posted in the office, saying all dogs had to be on a Martin Gale collar and leash. I seen these on sale on Amazon and they were delivered overnight. I absolutely love these. They are high-quality easy to adjust and I love the different color options that they offer.. This set was actually suppose to be a donation to my local animal care and control. I loved it so much that I kept it! (no worries – I did buy another set for donation!). I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy this set is. The turquoise color is beautiful. I love martingale collars but hate using the ones that don’t have a clip. But then I worry the clip is going to break. I have had no problem with this one and I use it with a 60 pound bully mix who is learning not to pull! It has a side piece on the clip that you push forward to lock the clip in place. The collar is really easy to clean - I use a toothbrush with baking soda and peroxide and dish detergent. Scrub it up and it looks brand new. The leash is my favorite part. The foam around the handle is so comfortable especially for those dealing with dogs that pull. No fabric burns or anything! I bought two sets for my standard poodle and labradoodle. They both pull and are quite strong. I’ve been trying different options and unfortunately, wasn’t thrilled with this collar. My dogs choked yet continued to pull and choked some more. I didn’t keep the collar on for the walk and never used again. I really loved the leashes but my rambunctious pups got to them and have chewed part of the handle. I wanted this to work but I can’t say I would recommend based on the potential for injuring the dog’s throat, etc. 😕 ... show more
