This is an okay battery charger. I got it to use when all the dome lights in my truck get left on, and I need to get my battery going again. It was super simple to use. It has a maintainer plug, with a very easy to replace fuse, and a charging plug with post clamps. They're easy to interchange by unplugging and plugging. I plugged it in to charge a dead auxiliary battery I have. Charging was predictably slow at only 2 Amps, but the unit functioned as it should without a problem. I do have to say, this unit has no visual gauge as to the state of the battery or charge. Most other trickle chargers I've looked at in this price range do have some sort of visual gauge, even if it's simplistic. It does have a light up LED indicator to show what mode it is in. Instructions are very clear and easy to understand. I would recommend this unit as a cheap backup battery charger, which is exactly what I got it for, but it certainly won't get a dead battery/vehicle going very quickly. As far as I can test it, the unit does what it should and doesn't appear to have any obvious issues. ... show more

This charger works very well and brought a dead motorcycle battery back to life! Completely dead, with not even a flicker of the lights or tiny whir of power. Hooked this up and less than 12 hours later the bike was roaring and ready to go! Only 2 things - the directions are tiny. You will need very good eyesight or a magnifying glass! I used a magnifying glass :) Second, it is difficult to tell when it is trickling or solid charging as there is no indicator light. It says it's automatic so you just have to assume it works as a trickle when needed. (The mode lights work just fine, there's just no trickle light). Either way, I'm just happy the bike runs and I don't need to buy a new battery. Worth it. ... show more

I have used Foval 2A chargers for several years, keeping batteries for the vehicles we don't drive charged over the winter. They have never failed us, even when left for as long as 6 months. Most of the Foval chargers available lately have been only 1A chargers, which I fear may be too small. This 2A version is perfect to me. My old 2A charger (on the left in the first picture) used to get very warm when charging. I'm glad to see this new version is larger, with more heat dispersion capacity. While the new charger also has 6v now, I don't really have a use for that feature. The old 2A charger had a very short cord on the AC side, but this new version is much longer, with plenty of wire to reach the outlet and still set the charger in the engine area. Nice lengthy cords are supplied to plug in and use for either a permanent connection (the ring terminals with an inline fuse) or the traditional small alligator-type clips. As shown in the third picture, the light is red because the car has been sitting for a week while I awaited the charger's arrival. A green light indicated which voltage the unit was set to, and it will flash if it is not connected to a battery. Once connected, the light turned Red to indicate that it was charging, and it will turn solid green once the battery is fully charged and just being maintained. There are more expensive chargers, but the Foval chargers work great. ... show more

The first couple times I used this charger I wanted to be nearby in case something went south. I let it cook a couple larger truck batteries at work over a couple days and am happy with it. It comes with standard SAE connectors that you can hardwire to your battery to make hooking up to trickle charge a 2 second job. Its easy to use, puts out proper voltage/amps and I think Im confident enough in it to leave it hooked up to one of my vehicles overnight and not worry about it too much. ... show more

I have tested this on both 12v and 6v batteries and it works good. There is nothing really special about it, it’s a tad on the “cheaply built” side but it works fine for now.
