Features

  • Flotation Foam is a polyurethane 2-part foam that, when mixed in equal parts and poured in place this foam will soundproof, insulate, or provide extra buoyancy.
  • This expandable foam is recommended for void filling in nonstructural applications. It can be poured underneath decks and inside cavities where a lightweight flotation foam is needed to provide buoyancy.
  • 2# Density polyurethane flotation Foam 1 Gallon Kit; Consists of 1/2 gallon of Part A and 1/2 gallon of Part B and produces 5 cubic feet.
  • Once fully cured this foam can be laminated over with any type of polyester, epoxy or vinyl ester resin without melting.
  • All expansion rates and times given are temperature critical. Temperatures below 75 F will lower the expansion rate therefore requiring more foam. Ideal working temperature is 75 to 80 F or above. Accurate measuring of these products is extremely critical. Working time before foaming: approx. 45 seconds Time before full expansion: approx. 5 minutes

  • Used this to insulate a double walled copper bathtub
Double walled copper bath tubs all indicate they can be insulated, but don't tell you how. This is the stuff I used. I would say that you would need two sets for the 66" tub I installed. Deadens sound as well as insulates, which will make sense if you own a metal tub. Pro tip: save lots of Quart yogurt containers or Quart Chinese food soup containers to mix manageable batches, use a paint mixing stick, and do it outdoors (fumes and spillage). Tap a paper cup over the drain back side to make your life simpler later. ... show more

  • Just wow! Expands WAY more than I expected.
Expanded beautifully. If you are looking to fill a very large void or something like I did, this is the stuff. I was building an insulated cover for a water hydrant that I need to use all winter. I used two bits of sonotube 40" tall. One was 24" dia and one was 18" inserted inside the other one. I used this stuff to fill the gap and it was perfect. I bought the half gallon set and am very pleased. ... show more

  • scrambled eggs
first pour worked out like pictures mixed 500 ml each at a time and allowed 7 to 10 minutes for each lift.used gallon freezer bags as mixing container and cut inch off the corner to pour out of after mixing. hint make sure your pouring it like cake batter into a mold VERTICAL.. and i do mean Vertical. my canoe bow was elevated a few feet off ground(sturn samething) .foam spread and started to fill the area nicely but didn't fill enough. so i had to make a second pour did 250ml each. poured it on top of the same area since area was almost full from what i could see. this time it egged out.. not sure if the first pour was still hot in some areas causing the second to cure faster and egg out layering and leaving voids between pours. pictures will be posted. trying to figure out if i have to make more 250ml batches to fill the cracks/voids then shave off excess with metal saws all blade. then figure out how to paint them or just bag them. foam is small closed cell but stiff rather it be a little more flexible like in the rescue tube life guards use which is also closed cell foam. not sure of type.. the foam does shrink away from the "mold" a good bit pictures to follow. ... show more

  • As advertised
This stuff really foams up fast! Good expansion.

  • Works well in boats to fill voids to keep them from filling with water
This product is a mess to use, but I expected that. It "goes off" pretty darn quick too, but I expected that as well. Very good product. If I'm filling a large void, I just throw the whole mixing container into the void and the foam expands all around it. Puts off a huge amount of heat, so keep that in mind. After about 10-15 minutes this stuff is hard. Expands to something like 20 times the original liquid volume. Be careful not to trap the expanding foam, because this stuff will expand regardless of the size of the void it's filling. If the void is too small, the foam expands until the void blows apart. Fun for science projects if you have kids to impress. ... show more

  • Great foam adhesive!
Using this to bond blocks of polystyrene or Trymer to carve large figures. Sticks to everything yet not too dense/hard to carve.

  • Works as anticipated but not the volume as advertised.
Used this product to re-do under the floor of my 18' aluminum V-hull boat. It only expands to approximately 2/3 of what the product states so double your order. Applied the product as directed in 78-degree temperature.
