    • Makes tough tire removal much easier -- but learn how to do it first.

This is a decent quality tire lever/spoon set for a nice low price. The levers are nearly 15" long and so allow good leverage to get a tough, thick rubber bead off the rim Finally these kits come with a few handy accessories, the best being the plastic rim guards. The rim guards will save your rims from scratches .. but they generally don't last more than 4-5 tire changes before they crack. From there use cut square sheets of plastic. To remove or install thick rubber tires such as scooters, motorcycles, ATV's, wheelbarrows, etc: 1) First, spray the outer tire bead area with soapy water or window cleaner to make it slick. 2) Second break the tire bead: A) (fastest way) Break the tire bead from the rim with wood/lumber clamps by screwing down on the side of the tire near the bead. B) Or (most common way) insert 2 levers 2" apart, spoons up between the tire bead and the rim. Then insert the 3rd lever in between the 2 levers with the spoon facing down. Now push the 2 levers down and the middle lever up. Move all 3 levers over a few inches and repeat. From there the tire bead should be broken. 3) Apply more soapy water, push down one side of tire with your knees if possible. Insert 3 levers, spoons up on the other side of the tire, keep the levers within 1/4 tire distance away from each other, pull levers up in succession, work around the tire, always leave one lever in. Take the first lever and move it to the end, insert and pry up again. Do this until the tire bead has popped off the rim. 4) Spray the other side of tire bead with soapy water and then pull the entire tire at an angle off the rim. Replace tire. 5) Hint: to reinstall a new tire: Use zip ties. Stand on the new tire, crush the tire down with your feet. Install a large zip tie around the tire and clinch it up as much as you can. Do this all the way round the tire using 4-6 zip ties. The tire will now be able to slip on the rim with NO TOOLS. After the tire is on the rim, cut and pull out the zip ties with a needlenose pliers. ... show more

This is a super nice set of tire spoons. They are solidly built with nothing flimsy about them. The handles are on tight with no give. The grips are well designed and fit well in your hand. You can really get some tork with the length on these. The storage bag is of good construction. It will take some abuse in the shop and hold up. I really love that everything fits nicely inside and stays together. Nothing like desperately seeking valve stems in the middle of the job - yuck. This also comes with a really nice assortment of stems and cores. The rim covers are well built and sturdy as well. The plastic handles are thick and the rope attached is strong. I am super pleased with this kit and highly recommend it! ... show more
