This charger comes in red and according to the box, yellow. The wall plug is available in AU, US, EU and UK styles. This is a compact and lightweight unit and is meant for trickle charging and maintaining. There is also a desulfite option that I have not tried. The clamps are adequate for what the tool is intended to do, this is not a starter or booster, hence the small cables. I tried it out on two batteries so far one was completely dead at .45 volts DC the other was around 11 volts. On the dead battery it showed 13.8 volts but the charge indicator was blank. It was not not actually putting out 13 volts as this charger will not charge a dead battery as per the description. On the partially charged battery, it worked like a breeze and testing at the clamps showed actual voltage that was displayed. I tried an amp clamp around the cables and it was showing around 4 amps at the time. This is a 6 amp charger at tops. The fan is very quiet but not silent. I would find this tool useful not just for slow charging but maintaining battery charge when testing and the key needs to be on, such as smoke testing an evap system or other systems. What it is: compact charger/maintainer. The case is plastic, but it is very substantial, and I am not worried about durability. The clamps are medium-grade, which isn't bad for this level of charger. It automatically detects if you connect the terminals backwards. (I smoked one that way, even though I know better than to hook one up backwards.) It has modes for warmer and cooler temperatures. Not really an issue where I live, but probably is in colder climates. It has a "repair" function, but I've never gotten much use out of those. it says that it will detect and charge "normal" batteries as well as AGM batteries, but neither of the ones I needed to charge were AGM. My last charger made me select AGM or it said I could damage the battery... so that's a plus. What it's not: It's not a high-amperage jump starter - but I've never had that work for me except in commercial quality wheeled chargers. For "normal" charging and/or trickle maintenance, it's a good charger. It's much more solidly built than my last charger, and the ABS case is actually a plus. (My last one had a rust problem.) I'm lucky that I don't have any failing batteries at this moment, so I can't speak to the restorative healing power of the "pulse repair." this charger offers. It did a good...and quick...job of charging motorcycle and lawn mower batteries. Not any surprise, the instructions were poorly written, and/or poorly translated. For reasons that escape me, although I was charging, in this one case, a motorcycle battery, every time I hit the "mode" button to select "motorcycle" battery, the menu just cycled right past it. Not sure if the charger read this battery as an automotive battery, but it properly charged it, as verified by my dedicated battery tester. This charger claims to be a float-charger as well...there was no setting to select "float charge." Given the sophistication of this charger, it's entirely possible it just automatically goes into float mode. It would be nice to have a "float" icon, just to satisfy my addled mind, to assure me that I wasn't cooking my battery I'll follow up with any new discoveries. Compared to the 20-pound cheese-grater batteries of my past, this charger is quite a revelation...definitely light and small enough to keep in your car... ... show more
