This was purchased to replace a 20-year-old can crusher. This is a very good replacement. Crushes the cans smaller, easy to use. Easy to mount. Same hole pattern as the old one. Excellent product.

It is sturdier than I thought it would be. It mounted easy with included hardware. Most of the water bottles that we use are larger than 12 ounces, but we are going to quit buying bottled water due to micro plastics anyway.

Bought this April 26th 2023. It was easy to install and seemed to do the job. Crushed Diet Coke cans well until last Friday, February 16th 2024. It literally destroyed itself beyond any hope of repair becoming a twisted hunk of useless metal. Mid-stroke the lock nut unlocked HA HA off the handle and since it was moving with crushing force, pun indented, it destroyed itself and nearly my hand as well. Now you may think that this belonged to 200 lbs. of mean machine macho, but no my wife and I are in our 70s and we have only crushed less than half a garbage bag of Diet Coke cans. We just don't drink that much Coke. So, it has had light use by regular people. I should have taken a picture of it on the wall with a partially crushed Coke can in it, but I was just going to throw it away and start over. Then I realized that perhaps McKay would make it right. I mean all that's missing to make it a safe and dependable product is simple little washers between the lock nut and the handle so that the handle doesn't rub the lock not off with use. Tried to contact McKay and nope, no response. Am I surprised? Not at all. So, if you buy one of these, please do yourself and your hand a favor and before mounting up for use take the lock nuts off the handle, put an appropriate washer on between handle and locknut and proceed to use without fear of total annihilation of your crusher and possible grievous injury to whichever hand is working the McKay crusher. ... show more

I had one of the previous iterations of this can crusher (almost the same design and I’m not sure if it was the same manufacturer), but this one is way better. This crusher seems very sturdy built and has a very smooth action when pulling down to crush the can. The mechanism does not get stuck (like the other one) anywhere and pulls down nice and easy. There is also a ripped rubber pad at the bottom to keep the cans in place while crushing ( the other one had cans come sometimes fly at me). The handle has a nice grip and is attached with screws (not bolts) that are very sturdy. Installation was also super easy, as screws and wall anchors were included.
