  • Read the instructiona and pay attention to the diagrams closely!
The assembly took me and the wife almost two hours - gathering the tools, setting up the work area, sorting the parts and finally assembling it. Having it on a work table made the job so much easier. A second set of hands and eyes definitely helps, too. The manual has a very nice 1:1 parts page for all the fasteners. I photocopied it so we could lay parts on it to make sure we had the right ones without having to flip back and forth in the instructions. Agri-fab REALLY needs to deburr their parts better. Some edges of some parts were deburred, but others had diabolically sharp edges and burrs waiting to cut you. The worst one I included a pic of. There are a LOT of parts. The steps are clear, but you do really need to pay attention to the pictures AND text. Normally you can scan through instructions and mostly get it, but there are a couple of gotchas in these instructions that will bite you and make you redo something a few times if you miss it. So pay attention. Read thrice, assemble once. There are a number of plastic bushings that I am nervous will not last very long, but time will tell. After I got it together, it survived the first spreading of its life just fine. However, the "1" and "2" setting are almost useless for any kind of granules of fertilizer. At least it was mostly useless for the Sta-green "3xtreme" weed and feed I used today. I pull it behind a Greenworks CRZ-426 60V electric zero turn lawn tractor and while the hitch is a little high for this thing, tilting it back about 15-20 degrees, it seemed to work ok. The geometry of the mower meant I couldn't reach the spreader control from the seat. So fair warning if you have something similar. I forgot to take pics of it hooked up this afternoon, I'll see if I can't update the review later if I can remember to. All in all not bad - but not great. It will definitely take you a feeding or three to get the flow control right for your particular fertilizer. Hopefully it lasts several years, though as noted, those plastic bushings have me worried. Time will tell! EDIT: Added pics of it behind the mower. When I first used it, I removed the bagger lid, but there was still no way to reach the flow control - its simply too far back. So I didn't bother removing it for the pics. ... show more

  • A very good seeder.
The wide spreading path gets big lawns done faster. The adjustments are just right. It is simple to use and does a nice job.

  • Good Product, Came Missing a Few Parts
Overall, I'm very pleased with this gear. It's built solidly and works as advertised, and I'm thrilled that it saves me tons of time when applying fertilizer on our large yard. Not surprisingly, it's a bit more awkward to use on a smaller lawn, such as our front yard. The spikes appeared to work effectively. My one area of frustration was with the parts. When it arrived, I carefully sorted and counted the parts, because other reviewers noted problems with missing parts. Sure enough, I was missing a few items (several bolts missing from a smaller package). I submitted a message on the company's website asking for the parts, but never heard back, so rather than wait, I just got them at our local hardware store. I'll also note that the instructional video on the website (which explains how to put it together), while very good, is a little out of date. Several items that they show on there are no longer part of the design (no spring, some plastic vice metal parts, 1 cotter pin vs 2). Minor issues, and they didn't impact me being able to follow the instructions. Overall, happy with the product, just frustrating re the lack of quality control on inclusion of parts in the shipment. ... show more

  • Will not spread sand !!
Bought to help my grass by adding sand. When searching for a sand spreader this spreader came up. Might be ok for pure dry sand but really bad when sand has any moisture in it. But here i am stuck trying to figure out how to make it work with Sand. Plan on 4 to 5 hours to assemble.

  • Aerator works well, spreader not so much.
The aerator/ spreader assembly was not bad. Aerator works well even without weight added, just fertilizer. The spread not so good, used it twice, the first time used almost entire full hoper on less than half my lawn, it should of cover the entire yard, at the recommended setting 4.5 both from spreader instructions and fertilizer instructions. The next time used different fertilizer brand and it packed, did not spread anything, set at 3.5, 4.0, just gave up. The levers are hard to reach from the tractor seat, I'm 5'8" so my are arms are not short. The spreader gate should have tensioning spring on it, maybe it would work better. ... show more

  • It will seed, but aeration not so much!
First it is a normal build, but it does lack a level of detailed description in the instructions that could steer someone into installing wrong. I've read numerous comments, and seen a video, or two of wrongly built units, and some complaints are builder error. If you build it wrong it won't work right, the operation of a correctly built unit will operate correctly without issue, the results are a different story. Second my unit had some wrong screws packed into it, so I had to go buy the right screws. There were four screws that were smaller than the intended size, that definitely would not have worked anywhere (pic provided). Noone should ever have to go buy hardware that's supposed to be provided. And the way the wheels are attached is just ridiculous! With so much spinning, vibration, and shifting, no wheel on a unit supposed to last a long time should have hairpins to hold them on IJS. But thirdly once the unit was together like I've heard in other posts the spikes just don't reach the dirt in an established lawn. The unit isn't heavy enough, even with seed to the rim. I even tried it on new dirt, and the unit made holes but it definitely didn't get 2 inches deep. The depth was more like 2 centimeters deep. This unit is better off being called a seed/spreader. It's just that! So now I'm considering taking it apart and returning.....hope this helps your decision. ... show more
