This is a phenomenal product. It comes with all the items you need to set it to up. Best part, no tools are required. It worked great to block any sun light, better than my blackout curtains. It comes with detailed instructions and you can cut it to fit your window shape

    • Value oriented solution for blacking out windows for night owls, “theater” experience and renters.

If you’re like me who find themselves sleeping during the day in an otherwise sunny bedroom and are sensitive to the light, you’ll want to check these out! Even at night, my bedroom faces an oncoming intersection with cars turning and so there are lights flashing back and forth all during the night. WITH THIS PRODUCT, you’ll receive most everything you need to install this shade (it’s not a “roller shade” or “blind”). The only thing that wasn't included was a pair of scissors which you may need to trim the material to width and length. Surprisingly, they provide you a good quality tailor’s measuring tape to help you with this. IMO, the included directions were hard to read with its small, white text on light blue background. I had to use a magnifying glass to read them. It says they include a "scissors" but there was no such thing in my package. This seems to be durable enough to last for years. The material is thick and durable and will hold up to years of touching, vacuuming, mild cleaners, etc. If you don’t mind the appearance, then they’re great! I could DEFINITELY see someone using this in a dorm room, short term apartment or a Summer rental where it would be impossible or impractical to install curtain rods, brackets, rails, etc. The material is durable enough to remove it from one place and use it elsewhere. BEFORE YOU START TO INSTALL - I suggest that if you have an clothes iron, set it to “cool” and smooth things out BEFORE installing! It will look much, much better! Clean all the surfaces so that the tape or stickers will properly adhere. WHAT THIS ISN'T: This is NOT a “finished interior” product. While this is a durable, well made solution and it does the job as described, this is an economical and temporary alternative to having a proper, finished set of curtains, blinds or shades which would include the blackout feature. (such a "fancy" installation would cost HUNDREDS per window for a proper multi-layered solution plus a much more elaborate installation) You MANUALLY roll up the bottom of this shade and hold it in place using the enclosed tubing and clips BY HAND (a working solution), this is NOT a regular spring shade or adjustable blind.     • Be Cautious Cutting Fabric to Size

I ordered this for my daughter's nursery. I live in Southern Arizona, so her room can get quite bright year round. This seemed like an easy enough solution to turn her room dark. This does a great job of blocking daylight. The key to this shade is, how well you cut it to size. I found that I am not great at cutting fabric, and this was no exception. I definitely did not do a great job cutting a consistent straight line. Unfortunately, you only get one shot to cut it correctly. I would suggest cutting it a bit large, to avoid my downfall. I would cut it around ½" larger then the actual width of the window glass. The rest of the installation was pretty straightforward. You will want to cut a piece of Velcro to the width of your window glass and stick it to the top using the included double sided tape. The tape pre-installed on the Velcro is very strong. The adhesion is excellent. I had no problems with it sticking to the window. You will also want to cut the plastic tubing that will be installed in the bottom of the shade, to the size of the window glass. I personally used tin snips to cut my piping, but some elbow grease and a steak knife should allow you to cut it as well. The set includes 3 clips which allow you to secure the rolled up shade to the desired height. My biggest concern with this light blocking set is, I'm not sure how long the adhesion will last. I am also concerned with how much residue will be left on the window, when the Velcro is removed. I will update this review in the future, regarding these concerns. Overall, this set is ok.... I definitely did not get the greatest results, but that is due to my inability cut fabric well. It does do a good job blocking out the sun's very strong rays. ... show more
