  • So far so good
Good size. The outside of the kiln does not stay cool as advertised and stated by others. I would not recommemd touching it even with oven mitts until it has cooled some. Would also highly recommend buying ceramic kiln posts to lift the kiln off of the surface of your microwave. Other than those two points, it works well and will melt just about any glass that you can fit inside. It does have a learning curve and you will need to "play" with it to get the knack. Don't expect picture perfect or even recognizable results at first. Lol But with getting familiar with it, you will eventually produce some pretty sweet pieces. ... show more

  • Beware-Directions are wrong on Amazon site.
This is a basic microwave kiln. The only directions are those that are included with the images of the item on the webpage, and they are wrong. No wonder so many people have had bad results. Standard firing is 3 minutes on 50% power and then checking every 30 seconds on high until the piece is glowing orange. There are other products that give you more, such has including gloves and a glass cutter. There are better deals. ... show more

  • SAFETY WARNING! Do not use in microwave that is also used for cooking food!
I read this info on a site that sells microwave kilns, so please use a dedicated microwave for fusing glass. This microwave needed to be used in 20 minutes increments 3x before it would warm to an orange/yellow glow. Even then, it needed another round because the glass provided did not round on the edges. I have a "real" kiln that works much better, but this one is good for scrap pieces and quick small pieces - I just need to find one that works faster. Mine may be defective because it does not work as quickly as those in the comment section. ... show more

  • It was pretty late, and then the results were horrible!
Maybe, this might work if you have the room to dedicate a fairly large microwave for this kiln. The results I got were horrendous after running the microwave for merely 6 minutes. The paper was blackened and soggy. The bottom and top of the kiln were burnt, and my beautiful pieces were ruined, as well (blackened but not melted). Just a warning: if you have warmed liquids or cooked in the microwave you are using, this will probably happen to you! I live in a non-humid Arizona climate. I was so excited to receive it, but now I am heartbroken with the results I got. I did get a full refund, however. ... show more

  • Great for multiple fusions
I love this kiln for doing small pendants. Recently I began taking tiny 1/4” pieces placed on a scrap of kiln blanket shaped to hold pieces. I layer transparent stained glass scraps then scrap clear dichroic pieces. Fuse. Then place clear glass on top and fuse again. Interesting results. Dichroic glass works great. ... show more

  • Works great!
The only thing that complicated things was my own self doubt! A large Kiln required more time so after 3 minutes at 50% power I bumped up to full power and 3 - 4 more minutes & done. Those with under 900watt microwave may have issues. Says so in directions
