It is used for rear and front security as good as any door alarm. The "front door" or "back yard" tells you what sensor is activated although it can play jingles. Range is good I have about 40' sensor detection range. I only rated 4 on easy to install, it is a bit tricky with button presses to set the device up. Works really well though and if need be I can add 2 more sensors later. As it is solar it requires no batteries unless sited in a poor light area but half the reliability is no batteries the receiver plugs into a wall socket. I brought this alarm sensor with different purpose from most other users. I have a little orchard in my backyard. There are always animals coming to damage my trees, from rats to squirrels to raccoons. I need an extra eyes to help watching out invaders day and night. This alarm sensors could alert me when squirrel and raccoon coming, but not rats. During sunny day, it is false alarm sometimes, when tree leafs are getting warm, so that I have to lower its sensitivity to three press on. After sunset, waiving tree leaves seem not causing any false alarm. This set of alarm has few good features compared to another brand I brought and returned. First is its larger charging solar panels that help sensor being charged up. Secondly is its receiver setting are remembered even after I unplugged it then plugged back on few hours later, it maintains its loudness settings and melodies selections. Received yesterday, a day earlier than stated (yea, Amazon!). Setup today was fairly easy. UTube video more helpful than instructions but some things were trial and error because they weren’t addressed in either (wasn’t clear at what point you could change the chime but somehow my husband changed one by picking up the receiver after the sensors were already on the trees). He’s even less electronically minded than I am so it was pure accident. Overall, it seems to work very well (we live in the country and it’s nice to know when someone comes down the driveway). My only issue (and reason for 4 stars) is the fact that the receiver itself plugs into a socket and doesn’t have a cord. I don’t know about anybody else but other than my sockets above the countertop in my kitchen and my bathroom, my sockets are about a foot off the floor. Who wants to plug the receiver down by the floor where, more than likely, there’s furniture in the way so you can’t even see it? Yes, you can hear it, but since they’ve gone to the trouble to put numbered lights on it, you should be able to put it somewhere where it is easily visible too. The UTube video shows them being setup using a power strip with multiple sockets but I wouldn’t want that sitting out in a highly visible location. Currently, mine is hooked up to an extension cord and I’m trying to figure out something to brace it in an upright position so the display can be seen. I read a lot of reviews before I bought this and I don’t remember anyone mentioning this issue but it might have made a difference in my choice. I would rather have a receiver that had a corded plug-in so it could easily be set on a table or in a window. ... show more

Works great, Highly recommended ! Easy installation. Never have to charge . It does go off on smaller animals during the night but i like to know whats creeping arround. No false alarms, if it go off there's something out there. Highly recommended.

We bought same one 4 years ago. It worked perfectly but finally wore out. Bought another exactly same. After installing all was great. Then about 2 weeks later sound volume went out. Now it’s worthless

They really work just great detecting vehicles, animals, or anything else that passes by the "eye." I am a oilfield gate guard and we use the old hose and bell system. This location is muddy and the hose gets stuck in the mud and doesn't work. This solved that and the alarm is inside my trailer. Easy to instal in just a few minutes. No more hoses for me.
