I bought these based on reviews, and received the package today. I am currently charging up the AA Power Owl batteries to be installed in them. These batteries are exceptionally good for long life and recharging,and I have a good supply of them for ease and speed of replacement. After planning out my use for the sensor units, I believe I may have use for one more in the near future for a complete coverage of my house. After installing them, I will give an update. Here's my update: just two days later, the weather warmed enough for me to get outside and mount my two sensor units. One on the front porch covering it and the approach from my driveway. The other covers my car parked at the garage, which also has an outo on flood light with an outo on dog inside when he hears something outside. Ivgot the two sensors tuned for "front porch" and "driveway" alerts. From what I've seen of certain other poor ratings of these units and confusion in setting them up, let me clear something up. Reading all the instructions while looking the units over will clear up any questions. Inside the battery nacelles is the sensitivity switch, they come from the set to high. Once set up, if you find you're getting too many false alerts on a sensor, change the setting on that one one to low, or simply re-aim it. A little bit of experimentation here is needed. This is a simple but well designed system which blends well into the background, unnoticed by any but the most discerning. Put together with other measures, you can build yourself a rather decent security sysrmtem for cheap. I intend to add another one or two sensors to my system to make it my own personal perimeter guardian. Oh, one additional thing, if you want to mount these on aluminum siding, just use the long screws provided, not the plaster wall anchors. The screws work very well. I mounted one inside the back of my mailbox as a delivery alert. Works like a charm. Now I don't have to listen for the mail car, or wonder if I "got mail". Only when that door is opened, ding dong! Easy to set up, very economical, lots of options to include extra sensors and extra receivers. Our old Guard Line system stopped working and when I looked for a replacement, I found these. What sold me was the ability to have 2 receivers as we needed one for the house and one for the shop/office. I like that you can set each sensor up with it's own alert sound. So we have one sensor that alerts "Driveway" and the other that alerts "Garage" on the side drive leading to the shop so we know if someone has pulled around back. The system was super quick and easy to set up and install and is working well so far, 1 week in. The driveway sensor is 700' from the shop/office and 800' from the house and both receivers pick it up just fine. The garage sensor is much closer. ... show more

These work really well up to about 35 ft or so. When adjusting for the motion detection it seems like aiming them downward more than level seems to work better as the motion detection is more sensitive looking at a slight down angle. I have four of these on one receiver and it's super easy to assign different tones for each of these sensors. I'm actually going to buy two more because they tell us when someone is driving up the lane and also when the dogs are standing outside wanting to come in. ... show more

I've had this alarm for around a month and so far, I am very pleased with it. It comes with two sensors and one transmitter, ours did. I placed one sensor 1000 feet from the receiver which sits in plain sight in our living room. The other I placed 500 feet from the house receiver. They both have different tones. The first one we set but the second one we never could figure out how to set it to a different tone but it's ok with the default 'ding dong' tone. Pros: Easy to setup. Good set of understandable printed instructions come with it. I like the visual lit up eyes of the alert if triggered. THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS DEVICE IS THE DISTANCE: I am amazed that it picks up visitors 1000 feet from the receiver. That's incredible. we live 1000 feet off of the main road up in the woods. I just kept moving it down the driveway expecting to lose the signal but it never did. It was so close to the main road that I was having occasional false alarms, I think from the passing traffic. So I didn't move it back I just angled it away from the road traffic. It has a nice swivel mount. I haven't had any false alarms since doing that. One place I had it in was shaded and had a lot of trees around and I'd occasionally get a false alarm. I guess that was from limbs and so forth. It hasn't had any false alarms since moving out of the trees. Cons: -There are too many tones to scroll through to select one. Do like 5; that's plenty. More is not always better. -I would rather the sensors not be as conspicuous and obvious. Yes, it's a cute owl to look at coming up the driveway. But on one hand it's good to know they see it and can be perhaps deterred if an unwanted visitor comes up your 1000 ft driveway. on the other hand it'd be very easy to just put that thing off and take the batteries out and come back later unannounced. ... show more

Easy to set up. This has saved my yard from the ravaging raccoons! They would come and rifle through water features and leave everything destroyed, which is their right. However I was tired of replacing plants and dumping out muddy water, and this has done the trick. I set up the sensors where the raccoons were entering my yard and right by the water feature, set the noise to the dog barking sound… so far no destruction. ... show more
