Installation on the positive side is also allowed. This switch can be used to disconnect any 12V system including cars, trucks, RVs, boats, and other equipment
  • EASY TO INSTALL, WIRING DIAGRAM IS PROVIDED. You can check the clearance around the negative pole of your battery (refer to product image 3). An easy-to-follow wiring diagram is included in the package. The red and black wires power the remote receiver in the relay and should always go to the positive and negative battery poles respectively. One side stud terminal of the relay goes to the negative pole on the battery, and the other gets the negative wire from the car

    • Read the Fine Print on Design
When reading the fine print on the design, it appears that this relay system is setup to cut the negative/ground on the power system, not the power/positive. This is okay, as long as you take this into account and matches what you need. For example, I would have preferred the positive being cut when activitated to protect the battery from incidental drainage and also to protect the rest of the power system from accidental surges/shorts. That, and then you get into the nuances of switched ground systems and how this won't cut power from those components. Again, this product is fine as long as you know the differences and it matches what you need. The instructions say that you can install on the power/positive, which is what I would prefer to do, but I don't feel comfortable doing this yet as it appears the product wasn't specifically designed for this installation method. I suggest, run the numbers on your own and see if the relay will be able to standup to being installed on the power/positive before doing so. Still giving it 4 stars - I consider 3 stars to be average - because of the affordable price point of this device (Others sell for around $150), and the completeness of the kit. ... show more

I am not good with installing these things so I’m waiting for my guy to put it in. As far as the parts go they all seem like good quality and are built to last. I will update once it’s fully installed and I’ve had a chance to test it.

    • Reduce RV battery drainage between trips
We don't use our camping trailer as frequently as we would like and have had a problem with battery drainage between trips. Because there are items in the trailer that constantly draw small amounts of power from the battery they could be discharged before the next trip. We have also left lights on accidently in the trailer. Batteries are expensive and they don't like to be fully discharged. In the past I was physically disconnecting the battery between trips but this remote disconnect eliminates that step making disconnect a much simpler process. The switch is very easy to install and the remote receiver uses a very small amount of current. This is a great device and far less than the cost of a new battery. ... show more

    • Simple and easy to use
I was having an issue with a parasitic power draw on one of my cars and I got this to keep from having to charge the battery on my one car constantly, it doesn't get driven all of the time. This took maybe 5 minutes to install and has saved me tons of headaches. If your are even remotely handy you can install this easily. The fact that it has a remote control for it makes it easy to throw the fob on your key-chain. Another thing that this can be used for is a very simple and effective anti theft device.     • Can't Steal My Car Now
With this remote battery disconnect device i was able to easily prevent my truck from starting and being stolen by switching off the battery voltage to my ignition and steering column key switch. A kill switch placed under the console, or dash, that turns on and off the remote battery switch. Even the computerized car keys can be duplicated by car thieves and a hidden kill switch is your best defense. ... show more

I'm building a portable camping battery using a ammo can. I thought it would be really cool to remotely be able to kill the power to all my lights when we go to bed or be able to remotely power on all my lights should an intruder enter camp. This thing really works and I am very excited to have it on my RZR as an anti theft device. I trail ride and some spots we go have trails that lead right up to restaurants and such, and sometimes you just have to stop for a snack or a bathroom break. I can walk away from it and activate this disconnect to keep it secure while I am away. It was easy to connect to the battery and is well worth the price for peace of mind. ... show more
