Features

  • All Natural green" product"
  • Lasts up to one year
  • Absorbent
  • Re-usable

Description

All Natural. Made from the bark of fir trees. Hygroscopic. This means it absorbs moisture and then releases it, creating humidity. The perfect substrate for humidity loving reptiles. Conducts and evenly distributes heat. Adds environmental stimulus. Allows natural digging and burrowing activity. Absorbent. Pulls icky waste away from your animal. Decorative. Provides your terrarium with that natural tropical rainforest look. Re-usable and super easy to maintain. All you have to do is soak in hot water every 2 to 3 months for fresh, clean bark. (ReptiBark should be replaced at least once a year). Smaller chips provide better moisture retention (increased surface area). Prevents live food from hanging out in your substrate (small pieces interlock).

  • I love this substrate
Size: 8 qt
Works really well for my reptile tank. It keeps moisture nicely, so the humidity stays where I need it, and my reptile seems to like digging around in it. The bark is just the right size—not too big or dusty—so cleaning up is easy too. Overall, it’s a solid, natural bedding choice for keeping the habitat comfortable and moist. ... show more

  • Snakes love it
Size: 8 qt
Works great as substrate for the snakes. I prefer the chips because I feed some of my snakes in their cage and this prevents them from eating substrate. Also works well if you put this ontop of more finely grinded coco coir. Stops snakes from eating it. Holds humidity decent. Holds a little better if the bottom layer is coco coir and the top layer is this. Would definitely recommend will be ordering more very soon. ... show more

  • Very clean with consistent sized pieces
Size: 8 qt
To be clear, I do not have a lizard or any reptile. I do grow plants. Ordered this to see if it would work as a lower cost source of what the bonsai stores call "fir fines" and charge a fortune for. While these pieces are larger then bonsai ones, this wood looks and smells clean and is pretty much dust free. Zero signs of any type of insects or other contaminations. I'm not using it for bonsai, but the size is working well for my more tropical plants in pots 4" and up. Will likely order again. ... show more

  • My tortoise is happy.
Size: 8 qt
My tortoise doesn't live in this habitat, she has the roam of the house, but when I leave I put her in her habitat and she loves it (I do keep it clean.) My boyfriend (78) said in a million years when we found her that she could not be a pet. He's taken that back many times. But as for the product, it's awesome. She loves the smell and when I have to leave her for over 12 hours it's hard to wake her up. She loves her home. I'm going to order some more today because I used the last of it yesterday. ... show more

  • Good depending on the reptile

  • Great!
Size: 8 qt
Second time purchasing this item and will definitely buy again. Love it. I use it as an additional layer on top of coconut fiber substrate and aspen bedding for two 50 gallon tanks for my ball pythons. This bag is the perfect amount to split between the two for a variety in their enclosures. It smells great and lasts a long time. And they love it to dig through all their layers and rearrange & make hills. I also love how affordable it is compared to local pet stores. ... show more

  • It's perfect for turtle enclosure.
Size: 8 qt
I love the color and my 25 year old tortoise loves it too. This enclosure has a plastic bottom and her nails keep up my dog who sleeps in kennel below her and this product worked flawlessly to quiet her nails. It's also wonderful smelling. I believe it's cedar chips but description says different. I smell cedar and love it. ... show more
