Description

Zoo Med Eco Earth Loose Coconut Fiber Substrate - Coconut Husk Reptile Bedding and Coconut Fiber Bedding Keep your pets happy and healthy with Zoo Med Eco Earth Loose Coconut Fiber Substrate. Recyclable coconut fiber bedding provides an excellent habitat substrate for a variety of pets including many amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates. Coconut husk reptile bedding is naturally ideal for use in terrariums for pets that require specific humidity levels to be maintained for their health and happiness. Zoo Med Eco Earth Loose Coconut Fiber Substrate is made primarily from the husks of coconuts. Coconut fiber bedding is meant to be kept slightly damp to maintain proper humidity levels as well as absorb and break down odor and waste. This makes it ideal for use as coconut husk reptile bedding or amphibian bedding in tropical terrariums. Many pets thrive in environments with specific humidity levels; such pets include: dry land newts frogs, toads, tortoises, box turtles, other terrestrial turtles, forest-dwelling lizards, snakes and invertebrates like hermit crabs thrive in environments with specific and constant humidity levels. Each pet type has their own unique needs so be sure to understand your pet's ideal humidity levels. Monitor your habitat's humidity and then dampen or replace your coconut fiber bedding as needed. Zoo Med Eco Earth Loose Coconut Fiber Substrate is ideal for burrowing pets like some varieties of tortoise, turtle and toad. If you have a burrowing pet, you can fill your terrarium with enough coconut husk reptile bedding to a depth of 1.5 to 2 times the height of your pet. That way, there is ample material to create natural burrows for resting or natural hibernation cycles. Eco Earth coconut fiber substrate is easy to maintain and replace. Spot clean as needed and replace entirely at least every 6 months. Old or soiled substrate can be sustainably composted or recycled.

  • BACK YARD TOADS ARE HAPPY
at first the toads went away for a few days but then they returned and seemed to enjoy their new soft soil. Toads like to hang out under the water spigot but unfortunately this is located near the pet door and I was finding them dead with tooth puncture wounds. I made the area safe for them by blocking it off with a little fence and surrounding it with plants for shade and hiding spots. What I didn't know is alot of plants and potting soil is toxic to toads so I threw away my plants and soil and started over with all toad friendly plants and products. I used this as a potting soil for 2 monkey grass plants and the plants are doing great, I didn't add anything else to it ,just this soil. I hope they appreciate my hard work. ... show more

  • Fantastic Product!
This review is more from our snake than us... We love the color, and how it really shows off our Jungle Carpet Python's colors! We also love how it holds moisture far, far better than Aspen. From Xena's perspective, she loves the fact that she can cover up her waste (she's very discreet for a snake, lol). She also loves the way it feels on her scales. She hasn't been able to tell us this, but when we had Aspen substrate, she hardly ever touched the ground. We did a 1/2 and 1/2, and she would curl up on the Coconut Fiber side, and didn't touch the Aspen. Now we're completely switched to Coconut, and she moves around her cage spending almost equal amounts of time on the ground and above it. :) We have bought two bags so far, and that has been enough to do four complete cleanouts of her 75 gallon tank, and replace what we used for general maintenance in between complete cleanouts. My only recommendation is that before you put the substrate down, you put some reptile carpet down first. We have it on the bottom of the tank, with the substrate on top. It helps keep the substrate from being pushed around too much and uncovering the floor, and it also makes it sssooo much easier to clean! We just grab the corners, pick it up, and shake it into a garbage bag. Then we rinse the carpet off, put it back in the tank, and put clean substrate down. It's cut our tank-cleaning time in half. ... show more
