I bought this for my 4 year old godson. When we opened it, it came with 2 scratch books so we each started scratching some drawings. It comes with stencils to help draw. Overall it was a nice fun gift and he was entertained!

These pads were a hit. I don't recommend them for daily use though because our kids went through them in about an hour. It would be awesome if there was some way to reapply a new layer of the black scratch material, ah dreams. My kids loved seeing their creations come to life in very vibrant colors after scratching. The books only have 10 pages in them. I'm glad it came with 4 wooden scratcher pencils because we were down to about 1 in less than an hour. I don't know how that happened. I would highly recommend these for travelling. It reduces the need to carry a box of crayons or colored pencils because the paper itself is colorful. All the pages are held together in a nice spiral bound book form, so you won't be picking up pieces of thrown paper. When scratching the pages the lines created were very smooth and didn't chip or dig up big chunks. You can expect black dust around from scratching. It also scratched very smoothly. No need to dig in or press really hard. I'm really impressed with this and will have to get more for our next trip. ... show more

I'm not sure who enjoys this more between my son and I. My son is 3 and has been very creative using this scratch paper. He was especially proud of his bus drawing, which I was extremely impressed with too. It is quite detailed and accurate compared to the past squiggly buses (equally impressive to me of course!) I adopted the 2nd pad, and admittedly found this to be somewhat addictive but therapeutic too. There is something about scratch art that is relaxing and just plain fun. I think the value for what you get is wonderful and the quality of the scratch paper is better than others we've ordered. For instance they flake off too easily making it extremely hard to draw anything detailed. Or the color isn't as bright or as colorful when revealed. I have to order more now as between the 2 of us, we've almost used up both pads. But I will order from this brand again as the quality and price is wonderful. As expected this does make a tiny bit of mess due to the black specks from the surface layer. But at least I don't have to worry about red, washable (but not in fact washable) markers on my light gray rug. True story. Sigh... ... show more

This is a good scratch pad set and good for the $7 price. The colors underneath are nice and vibrant and the black scratches away in pretty clean lines. The stencils are not super useful, since the scratcher won't fit in some of the lines. The wooden scratching sticks are sturdy. My 1 and 3 year old are loving these, but they'd be even better for a slightly older kid. ... show more

Got this set for my 5 year old kid during recent travel and it worked perfectly. It was mess free, easy to carry and kept him engaged for long time. The stencils have multiple shapes and patterns and the paper is thick and colorful.

    • Fun for kids to freehand draw in rainbow colors

I’m always looking for different art-type activities to keep my seven-year-old and his friends busy for a while. This ZMLM Kids set contains two spiral bound rainbow scratch off tablets, 4 wooden styluses to draw with, and 4 plastic stencils with various different images on them to trace with. My only beef with rainbow scratch offs in general (not unique to this brand) is that they are messy like scratch off lottery tickets. For that reason, we have our kiddos do these in the kitchen where the mess can be controlled and easily cleaned up rather than as a car take-along. It is nice that this set came with the plastic drawing templates. There are a wide variety of images you can make with them. The only problem is that the tip of the styluses can’t get into all of the grooves of the stencil. You’ll need to have your kids use something else. Other than that, this is a great set. I love that I can rip these out and have a group of neighborhood kids all make something at the same time. This is a good value and would make a good party gift. ... show more
