I bought this specifically to cover the top of our small chicken pen. This is both to deter the hens from trying to fly out (which they could when the pen was uncovered) and to deter predators from above. So far so good. Hens stay put and no problems with birds of prey. I suppose a big hawk or something could tear through it if it really wanted to, but having it there is enough to deter them from trying. I attached it to the chicken fencing with the zip ties that are included. It's survived hot and cold temps alike rain, snow, and sleet. We did get some really heavy, wet snow that started to weigh it down, so I had to go out every few hours and shake it so it could fall through. Keep this in mind if it snows a lot where you live and you plan to use it during the winter. ... show more

I give it 4 stars because the size of the thing is definitely worth the price and it does the job, protects my chickens from hawks in the day and owls at night. Only problem is its he'll trying to put it up by yourself. The nylon sticks to everything and I mean EVERYTHING. I suggest using like a thin plastic drop cloth or something similar, a tarp maybe, to slide it across while u hang it so it won't tangle. That's the only problem I had ... show more

I lost 5 hens in a few months to a Cooper’s hawk. This was our fix, our run is 70’X 30’ we ordered the 100’X 50’ length with one inch holes. It took my husband and I 6 hours to pull it over many posts (which it gets hung up on) over a tall shrub which it got completely tangled in and was a nightmare (tip put plastic or a tarp over everything you can) over a small tree, two coops (hangs up on shingles) and a small out house. We have done three renovations and this netting nearly broke us lol! My husband said “we will sell the house if we ever need a new one) hahaha. It will hook on gloves, zippers, finger nails….. in the end we probably have not laughed so hard in a very long time. I will purchase again for my hens! Tip if it get hung up and it Will , DO NOT pull too hard or it will rip. It is semi strong, it’s not like the plastic bird netting. Good luck :) ... show more

I don't do reviews, but this one is worthy. Bought it to cover my garden as I have free range chickens that destroy any vegetation that is purposeful. In short, it worked! I have 4 ft of chicken wire lining the 40x100 garden, and this net laying over the top of the garden. I set a phone pole in the middle of the garden to act as a main riser to keep the net above head height as we work inside it. With some creativity and due credence to other reviews of this net being apt to catch every and any hangup in it's path, it was fairly easy to set up. Repeat, READ REVIEWS ON HOW TO AVOID IT HANGING UP ON LITERALLY EVERYTHING! 4 months in, it's not as wonderful as I'd hoped, but thats not a fault of the quality or company. The netting is so thin, it's hard to see, and I have had to rescue multiple small birds from entanglement. Noteworthy that there are many other birds entangled I don't catch in time and are found dead. Good news is the chickens have been 100% off limits to the garden! The dogs, however, try really hard (doesn't help having a bird dog). It really has been durable to what it's meant to keep out- birds. Dogs will find a way to tear it. Heavy weight can't prevent it from tearing. Sort of comforting, as I'd rather have torn netting than tangled/strangled dogs, but something to consider. If I'd set it all up as I intended (high off the ground), this wouldn't have been an issue. But I have 2 weekends a month and a few days between to get things set up, so my timeline is slow and not in best order. Overall, this does exactly what I bought it for, but know that your situation may differ from mine. ... show more

This product did eventually do what we wanted but the process of untangling it and spreading it out was very difficult. The cord it is made with is very fine and tangled in every little twig or piece of straw if you are trying to use it outdoors. We bought it to cover the top of a chicken run and it is is finally spread and stretched tight but it took us several hours to do so bc of how easily tangled it became. It already has one hole so we are hoping the durability is good but aren’t sure it will be. So in other words it is not easy to spread at all, durability is medium and it is very light weight but I would have rather it been more heavy duty ... show more
