These ziplocs sit nicely on the counter while I fill them with soups and stews for the freezer. They don't leak as readily as the regular storage ziplocs, but you'll still want to defrost in a bowl.

I've been using Ziploc freezer bags for years, but I particularly like the stand up freezer bags. Before these were available I had to stuff the older Ziploc freezer bags into a wide mouth jar to be able to fill them for freezing without spilling my cooked items all over the kitchen countertop.
