    As this is my first foam mattress, I can't compare it to others. But, I love it. Here goes... I bought this for a twin size trundle bed for when my Grands come to visit for the night. I slept on it several times to try it out while waiting for my 12" foam mattress to arrive. For the money I was very impressed. It's only 5 inches thick but still very comfortable. I'm 5' 2" and weigh 135 lbs. I was worried I might 'sink' and feel the slats under it as some reviewers mentioned. But, that's not the case. At least not for now. It's hard to describe the softness/firmness as that's a matter of opinion. But, I would say it's a little of both. The top layer is soft and great for side sleepers and people with hip problems like myself. The next layer is somewhat firm to give just enough support. It's a great combination. As it's for a 'drawer' trundle bed, I can't comment about the 'side sagging' problem where you get in and out of bed as other reviews said. It decompressed to the full 5" in a couple hours but, we gave it 24 hours just to be sure. All in all it's a great mattress for a little money.     I bought three of these 5" memory foam twin mattresses is for 9, 7, and 4 year old boys. They were having trouble sleeping on their old coil style mattresses so I opted for memory foam. The mattresses are setup on platform beds (basically a sheet of plywood set on top of bed slats) so the foundation is pretty solid. This caused the overall support to be firmer than i expected, but it is still VERY comfortable. I am 6 ft and 165lbs and would have no problems sleeping with this setup. None of the boys weight more than 60 lbs so they barely sink in past the premium memory foam layer. My 4 year old stated "Its like I am a baby sleeping on a cloud." They all love the mattresses and seem to be more rested upon waking in the mornings. The mattress came tightly rolled up in a plastic bag, which you are instructed to literally tear off (it takes a little muscle). I laid them out so that they could reconstitute and straighten out. The instructions recommend 48 hours, but I found that after 3-4 hours the mattresses had fully expanded. Meaning they were 39 X 75 X 5. There was a SLIGHT odor upon opening the plastic bag, but this subsided after a minute or two. I am very happy with this product, and so are the kids. ... show more

    The comfort and quality of these mattresses has completely exceeded my expectations! These are excellent! We are using them as a replacement for our couch and they are working wonderfully. We were originally going to use foam crib mattresses but these ended up being thicker, cheaper, and deeper from wall to edge of couch than those were ever going to be. I'm highly satisfied. These mattresses provided us with a larger, more comfortable couch while also saving us some money. The quality is great. They arrived on time. Packaging was minimal. There's no weird smell. I didn't overheat while sleeping on them. They plumped up to the proper size and thickness. Nice balance between firmness and softness. We made a great choice. We're so satisfied that we purchased another mattress from Zinus which has also been excellent. I highly recommend this mattress. And if you're crafty like me, why not try it instead of a couch. It's easier to clean, move, and modify than any other couch you'll own. Also probably cheaper and more comfortable. Thanks Zinus! A++ (Sorry about the blurry photos.       • I was nervous about ordering a mattress online!

    I have never ordered a mattress online before. We needed one for our 6 year old that would work for a top bunk bed. It came in the mail very quickly. I should have read the directions before trying to get it out of the bag it was in because there was an easier way than what we were doing! But it did come out eventually and we layed it out to let it expand. I am extremely sensitive to smells and so I was concerned, after reading some of the reviews, that it would be an issue; there was a chemical type odor but it went away after about 30 minutes. We put this mattress on top of a twin box spring (we will be purchasing a bunk bed in the near future but for now it goes on box springs) and I lied down on it. At first it was strange not to feel springs in it but it was not at all uncomfortable. I was surprised at how firm it was and yet comfortable because of the "give" it has in the memory foam. My husband and I prefer very firm mattresses and our bed is a king size extra firm sterns and fosters that cost us over 2K. This twin mattress is every bit as firm (in a good way) as our expensive bed. If I had known that two years ago when we bought our king size mattress, I would definitely have gone with this type instead! I loved how easy it was to have it mailed to us rolled up as opposed to driving to the store and figuring out how to fit a standard one into our vehicle.       • Did not expand all the way.

    Bought for a loft bed for a 5 year old. His first big boy bed. The price was good. And the size listed it perfect. But it did not expand to the full size that was listed. It has only expanded 4 inches thick. And is short about 2 and a half on length. Kinda disappointed. Especially since it's a loft bed with rails underneath. We have put a pool noodle at the foot to take up the missing space. We let it sit 4 days hoping for full expansion. But it didn't happen. The reviews seem mixed but I took a chance. No smell. You win some and lose some I guess. ... show more
