  • Amazing Device for my Sony ZV-1 !
Works like a charm, allowed me to take some amazing 4K video with my ZV-1. I now use it as a complement to my Sony 4K AX-100 with it's big telephoto lens. Balancing the camera is actually pretty easy, do not over-think it. If it looks balanced (almost no resistance to rotations about the three principal axes) then it's balanced ! The point is just not to stress the motors, really no need for 3hrs youtube videos on balancing :-) . You can go back and forth on the three axes to fine tune the balance, just take the 5 min time it takes. I then prefer to just leave the camera on the gimbal. Make sure you balance the camera with the lens out ("camera on") ! It took me a while to hook the gimbal to the Sony ZV-1, the point is (a) you need a phone to do it, you need to download the "ZY Play" app to your phone, (c) you need bluetooth enabled so that the camera and the gimbal talk to the phone, and (d) wifi needs to be enabled on the Sony ZV-1 camera, since that's the way the gimbal controls talk to the camera. To connect the Sony camera to the phone & thus gimbal via wifi it's best to scan (take a picture) of that scan code that appears on the ZV-1 display when you navigate to the wifi options. This is done from within the "ZY Play" app. You can control the camera via the "ZY Play" app, but I don't do any of that. I used the app for setup only, once. As far as using it, it's very easy. I printed out on a large piece of paper pages 12 and 13 of the manual. First used it in PF mode but now I think I prefer F or Go modes, which slowly follow your tilt. All in all a great product and certainly worth the money, Five Stars ! ... show more

  • Just not really there.
The gimbal is great if you have a lens completely centered on the mount. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max, SmallRig phone cage #3077, Moment Anamorphic/18mm wide angle/58mm tele lens, and CPL/VND filters. In all, my rig is 550 grams. Knowing that the lenses will offset the weight, I assumed there’s some sort of way to counter the off-center weight. There really isn’t a way to do that without taping quarters and pennies to the base. There’s no where to really add extra counter weights to be honest. My other major complaint is that you can only use the zoom and record functions with their camera app. You cannot control higher end apps like Filmic Pro or the native iPhone camera app… 🤦🏻♂️ In Filmic Pro, if you select the Zhiyun Smooth 4, you can actually select the gimbal. If you check the Bluetooth settings, the gimbal shows as connected. But it still does not control the default iPhone camera app or filmic pro. This is so annoying because I believe you can do that with the Weebill S. Their support is less than stellar. They offer really no help at all. I’m guessing this is going to be another return. No one offers a lightweight gimbal for the bigger iPhones. I’m so disappointed. ... show more

  • Stay away from this, shaky, low quality, restocking fee even if defective.
It was shaky with point and shoot camera no matter how calibrated or what settings I used. They don't stand behind the product and charged $41 restocking fee. Made in China crap that will fail after a few months.

  • Wasted my time over and over again.
I really really wanted to love this. But y’all, it’s not great. First things first, I read iffy reviews about this being used with an m50, but also saw a bunch of glowing YouTube reviews that were like, “I don’t get everyone’s problem!” I decided just to do it! What a deal, right? Well, after countless formations, lenses, and tests, I can confidently say it’s not great for the average user. With the most barebones setup I can get it to work alright, but not well. I finally gave up and ordered a different gimbal. I was going to send this back, but then thought I’d keep it just to use with my phone. I didn’t test that, but how could it be wrong? WELL, turns out my iPhone with a case is TOO BIG AND HEAVY. What in the what? My phone is too large to do things like rolls, or even just have seamless footage where a plastic bit isn’t rubbing something else weird. And after doing short tests (maybe about 5-10 minutes) the motors were feeling HOT. And really, I was just doing some simple footage. If this was $50 I wouldn’t be as bothered. But for nearly $200 I just have a hard time that it doesn’t properly work with two of the advertised cameras I tried. It might be too late for me to get a refund now too, and I don’t feel right selling it to someone. I wish I could get my hours of troubleshooting back and have just started with something else. ... show more

  • Broke in 6 months. Motors crapped out. Customer service doesn't look promising.
Bought this in March 2021. Crapped out September 2021. For 6 months it was a decent gimbal. Used it with my GoPro Hero 9. During a photoshoot I set it down on the tripod for 2 minutes while I grabbed something from my camera bag. I heard the gimbal start to make a weird rattling noise & then the motors were completely dead & haven't worked since. Been going back & forth with customer service about getting a replacement. They sent me a Word document form & an excel spreadsheet form to fill out. I have to pay for the shipping to send it to them and they said it may be over a month before I can get a replacement & it won't even be a new one. The woman I spoke with says that the turn around time is longer because they are dealing with other cases & they hope I understand. I understand that if they are that busy with other cases then it means their products must not be that reliable. I've read this is a common problem. That's a lot of money to spend on something that is going to crap out in 6 months. We'll see what happens with the replacement. I will never buy from this company again. ... show more
