Was looking for a dress for a fairytale birthday party for a friend. Came across this one. I read a ton of reviews which were good. I was undecided about sizing. The amazon size chart is way different from the products size chart. I usually wear a xl or 2x. I ordered a 2x and it fit perfect. I'm just under 5'5" and I wore boots that didn't have much heel. And it is long. I had to hold it up a bit on occ when I walked. I will be having a seamstress cut off about 2 inches so I don't trip. Over all it's comfy, durable, it is a little see through but it's white. What do you expect. Over all a huge plus with this one. It came wrinkled. I like that this is fairly adjustable with ties in the back and front. I was concerned about it fitting, but it fits! I'm a size 22. Very soft and comfortable. Perfect for Renaissance dress up.

I purchased this to wear at work on Halloween and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was and at the fabric/sewing quality for being a costume... NO raw edges! I received ALOT of compliments. QUALITY: The material is a soft medium weight velvet fabric with some stretch... not thin and see-through and not so thick and stiff that it loses proper drape/flow. The wrinkles from packaging almost disappeared after letting it hang on a hanger for about a week. There was a bit of static but I just rubbed a dryer sheet on the inside of the skirt and it was no longer an issue. FIT/SIZING: I was unsure what size to get since costumes tend to run extremely small but the reviews all said it ran pretty true so I ordered three sizes to try: XL, 2X, 3X. The 2X worked the best as I'm a bit full in the middle (the XL might have worked if my shape was different). I'm a size 14/16 and 5'6" at about 185#. LENGTH: The length was about perfect. I would say if you are under 5'5" then you may have to shorten it or lift the front of the skirt when you walk. COMPLAINTS: My only complaint would be that the fabric used for the edging is rather an ugly yellow. It's not velvet like the rest of the dress but a stretchy plain polyester fabric that seems a bit out of place in my opinion. I think that if it was either velvet or an actual "metallic" gold it would give the dress a much more polished and less "costume-like" appearance. (If I get ambitious I might try to swap this out myself.) CONCLUSION: This is a versatile, well made, and comfortable dress especially for the price point. I used it as a witch costume this year but it could easily be turned into a vampire, elf, princess, period costume, etc. I expect to get many years of use out of this dress. I've had this dress for a couple of months now the material is really high quality feeling and the color is deep and vibrant I've been asked on many occasions if it was crushed velvet. It's weighted enough to keep me comfortable in colder breezy weather but also it breathes so I've been wearing it in the spring too and it dosnt make me sweat. I've gotten so much use out of this dress for so many different looks from a midevil queen, to a witch, to a queen of hearts cos play, to so much more. It's truly a beautiful dress with so much versatility a truly good value for my money. I am 300 pounds 5 foot 9 male and this dress fits me with or without a corset and a 44 DD bra size. ... show more

I hate dresses. I hate getting dressed up for events. I dread clothes shopping. My friends were getting married in a castle, and I did not want to miss it or be ‘stupid’ about it. I looked for a dress in stores and found nothing. I looked online and this one popped out and spoke to me. I’m so glad I bought it. It’s comfortable, my number one concern. It will still fit if I go up a size or down a size. My second concern. It’s certainly affordable. My third concern. An unexpected pleasure was how many compliments I received. I’m not used to that and I really didn’t know how to respond! One wedding guest said that I must have paid a fortune for it! She just couldn’t believe that quality when I told her how much I paid. I bought this for a production I’m doing and the dress is great. It leaves a lot of room to take it in and the white dress comes with a tie that allows you to sinch the dress to a much smaller size. My only disappointment is that the green outer dress is missing the ties for the front and back of the “corset” part. I will not be returning the dress because I got it on a great overstock sale, but it means that I’ll have to sew the back together and find a relatively close green color ribbon to tie up the front. That’s the only issue that I have with this dress. It’s otherwise a great dress and exactly what I was looking for. It will make a great addition to our theater’s costume collection. ... show more
