It also works as a storage case for your hair tools! It’s not super thick, but it was nice because I could use it to protect the counters of wherever I was, and then store my hot tool in my bag.     • Works good but thin - smells bad upon arrival

Does its job. Lower stars because it smelled so bad at arrival and it protects the counter, etc. but it’s not heat absorbing so if you pack a tool before it’s cooled, you can burn your hand with the heat thru the sleeve. Additional notes: - The smell faded over time but it was so gross when I got it so definitely wash with hand or dish soap when you get it and dry it really well before planning to put it in a suitcase with your clothes for a trip. - If your hair tool is too hot when you put it back in the sleeve, you can feel the heat a lot thru it so it’s sort of thin, but it still won’t melt anything outside of it that I’ve seen so far. I usually try to let my tools cool down before packing them anyways. Only had one time I had to rush pack and no problems except careful touching with hands on the outside of the silicone pouch. I just packed it around some pjs so it wouldn’t melt my plastic bathroom containers to be safe. ... show more

Love these heat-resistant mats. Heat doesn’t transfer to counter at all. Bought 2–one for my flat iron and the other for my styling tools (mat keeps my round brush in place when I set it down…before it would always roll off the counter and into sink.
