This little countertop unit is awesome. It spits out ice within the time stated in the description. You have to wait for the second round I. Order to get solid chunks as the first freeze takes awhile. I also transfer to the freezer once the basket is half full in order to keep the unit working. By doing this, the ice still slightly melts in the freezer so you’ll more than likely have to break it up a bit when you go to fill your cup. My first thought there's no way this thing is making that much Ice... Wow was I wrong!! It doesn't seem like it would make that much ice because of where the fill line is, it keeps making ice for hours!!! My only complaint is... I wish the ice wasn't so soft. However once you place it in the freezer it fixes the issues & get yourself a good size Ice Cube container. ... show more

its slow and also by the time the ice is starting to fill, it seems to melt fast too. the s/l options are almost identical. i tried to use it for a good week or so, and i have not used it since. its okay if you have zero access to ice, and simply cannot buy ice. i don't know how effective it is on electricity. ... show more

While it does make nice looking ice initially, for some reason before you can actually get to it, it cycles all of the water through the reservoir again and if it's more than half way full it will release the ice into the little basket which is now submerged, where it will sit for a few seconds as the freezing tray fills back up. This causes it to melt a little bit. Once the reservoir is at about half it doesn't fill up enough to submerge the basket, so I think next time I will only fill it that full. The storage area is insulated like an igloo cooler kind of, it's not refrigerated and that's probably on me for not realizing but I've never owned an ice maker before so maybe some of my disappointment with this product is caused by that. On the positive side this thing is very quiet and a nice size. It is small enough to probably fit on the counter in the RV which could come in handy. It does make a batch of ice every 9 minutes as it claims. It requires babysitting if you are trying to make a stockpile of ice for your freezer because the basket is pretty small. If you are making a stockpile I suggest using a big bag to store it all in so that you can break it up as it will stick together in the freezer But ultimately I would tell most people looking to get one to save their money and splurge on a better one because this leaves a lot to be desired. If you have a small hotel style fridge with no room for ice trays this is great and again I do see this being very useful for RV trips. ... show more
