My main concern before ordering was that I could not visualize the size. I've attached a photo for comparison. I am 5' 1'". Use this mat for children up to 3/4 of my own height. Any taller, and they will need to position their feet to start off the mat, land hands on mat, and then finish off mat. In that case, the printed feet still help the taller girls position their feet off the mat. Secondary concern was reading another person's review on that it was too squishy it was dangerous to use. I disagree. I use this mat to help teach little ones who are terrified of tumbling, not for regular tumbling use. The extra softness encourages them to actually try because it is softer than the other mats! I would recommend to put this on top of additional mats since the cartwheel mat is so narrow. Tumble straight or die :P Overall, still glad I purchased it! Two girls have gotten their cartwheels because of this mat and several more are very close to overcoming their fear! ... show more

    • Simple and just right
I wanted something for my 6 year old who has been taking gymnastics for a year and my almost 4 year old who has not. He copies his older sister and this mat helps so that when he hits the mat instead of the floor, he is protected. The idea I had was to find something inexpensive--since I am not made of money--but that would be durable enough that they could burn some energy in the cold winter months. So far, so good. As soon as it was out of the box, it was on the floor and they were jumping on it. My one complaint is such a mild one I hesitate to mention it. The hands on the cartwheeling side of the mat seem to be more of a distraction than a help. But overall, I would recommend this mat. In fact, I already have. :) ... show more

    • HOURS OF USE ALREADY BY MY KIDS---THEY LOVE THIS MAT----WOULD BUY AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT
Wish it was a little thicker but we LOVE this--it was worth the money. The guiding hands/feet helped my 6 year old get the concept of a cartwheel better---the flip side mimics a balance beam and basically serves as a visual reminder to try to stay along the line for my older daughter who can do cartwheels with a roundoff and little jump at the end {I forget what she calls it} anyways, my kids have used this for HOURS to practice for their Acrobatics class. If you need serious hard-core for a gymnastics enthusiasts, then perhaps might want to get one that is wider and thicker. Other posters mention a smell--and a sticky residue? There was a slight smell of factory-plastic smell but it wasn't horrible and dissipated within a day---I just put it outside for a bit and aired it out--There was no stickiness to it and overall I would buy this mat again and I do recommend it to other moms who's children want to practice on a softer than the floor or ground---but a serious gymnast would need something more heavy duty. this fits nicely under my kids twin bed by the way and does stand horizontally along a wall if you choose to store it that way. ... show more

    • Needs a better foot shape.

The foot shape is a little hard for the little ones to know which foot to put where with the big toe not higher then the rest. The curve toes confuses them. I'd rather have the other side a hopscotch but that's a personal preferences. I could have bought a different one with the hopscotch for more money so for the price this one works. ... show more
